We're not late enough into the second half to try for two.

A couple of the statisticians investigated when it's best/plausible to try for two, and they concluded that earlier is better than later as you have more margin for error and will still have time to recover if it fails. You take the shot when you get the chance rather than sit and wait/hope you have another opportunity later - the other side of the coin is by calling it earlier you can catch the defense off guard and/or if it fails you know how to correct any failings the next time.

I suppose, but I've seen plenty of teams go for 2 early, and get "behind" the score so to speak, where if they had just kicked extra points things would have worked out for them.

And according to this: http://www.theredzone.org/Features/TwoPointConversionChart.aspxMac made the "right" decision as we were down 15. But still. It's the mentality of it that I don't like. Mac could be more aggressive and it wouldn't be careless, radical, or more aggressive than necessary.

be interesting to see if LaTech makes a better fist of the C-USA championship game then Rice did last year. I think LaTech beats the Herd.

Second year coaches can't be expected to win.

49-24. Game is on CBS Sports Network

UTSA really plays with a huge chip on its shoulder. They have such a tendency to have players start scrums. One of these days they are going to be involved in a brawl.

Sounds like we were lucky to recover the football but great drive, I have to admit.

AND WHOA WE GOT THE TWO POINT CONVERSION... just as the chart says. Now if that doesn't get the defense fired up I don't know what will.

Slowly but surely miniMac is coming into his own. I think he'll always have his detractors but he's doing just enough - just like a certain D. Thompson.

I'll still want him to earn the starting job next year against Means, Greer, and whoever else the Mean Green brings in.

Not gonna lie...right after UTSA went up 27-12, I just about gave up.

I was right there with you as well. Thought that after the offense struggled they way they did in the first half there was no way we could come back, especially with our defense.

Shows the squad hasn't quit on Mac. Good to see.
