I was watching Game Day, and the discussion came up about the termination of Florida's head coach, who had a strong defensive coaching background. The consensus was that the game has changed, and that while you still needed to have a good defense, you need to have a better offense and concentrate on out scoring your opponent.I look at TCU, who brought in a new OC and changed the way the Frogs play football. Their defense is o.k.,but their offense really lights it up.My question is, does North Texas have an outdated coaching philosophy?Just asking.

A big problem with the old school philosophy of running the ball , play good defense ( which I love) is that almost all the rule changes over the past decade or so have favored the offensive passing game

The formula for a team running the football, solid D and great special teams takes outstanding recruiting annually. It's a difficult philosophy for a G5 program to sustain success, impossible really. But, we are North Texas. We do things the hard way.
