West Mesquite QB set to graduate in December. Mississippi State parted ways. All the other schools that recruited him have their own highly-ranked qb committed now. Would be a good idea to step in and offer this kid. Could be scrambling to find a home last minute, with this situation. Worth making room for, to say the least.

We should always make a scholarship available for any player that legitimately has the potential to start for the next four years, especially at a position which has experienced such obvious turmoil.

Does anyone know if there is a back story, some problem that caused MSU to pull his offer? There has to be some reason either at the MSU end or his. He sounds like a kid who wants to get to work on his college football career and is willing to do extra to do so.

MSU was the #1 team in the country for 1/2 the season. They're getting 'bigger fish' now. That's why.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask this guy. If he works hard, he could definitely start next year as a true freshman, considering his competition.

As indicated in the tweet NT03 posted, they were still offering him a grayshirt. But according to Virgil head HS coach, Miss State pushed him to graduate early. Normally you delay your enrollment for a semester with grayshirting, but Virgil would've had to delay his enrollment for an entire calendar year.

But from what it sounds like, they did not ask him to grayshirt to make room for another QB. It sounds like they just wanted him to grayshirt to make room for more kids in their class in general.

What would it hurt to throw an offer at this kid? This guy could seriously start for this program next year. If you are somehow able to get this kid to come to UNT, this is what you call momentum and it would get other kids that are on the fence about UNT to come here. All you need is one stud and the rest of the 3-4 star recruits will start to take a better look at UNT.

I've been pretty patient with and a fan of Coach Mac since he arrived, but if we don't go after this young man then I will be severely disappointed.

Has anyone ever seen this kid play? Can he throw horizontally behind the line of scrimmage?

I would hope that problem would be solved with a new OC next year although, I have felt that UNT has opperated almost like the cowboys so we might ask Canales to stay and just sit in the Booth while we hire another OC.

If he has any skill, he'd be able to do much more than that if he chose to come play here under McCarney/Chico.

Of course, if he has skill, and can force defenses to back up & respect the pass, JWilson stands to see the most benefit, because McCarney is not going to abandon his run-first system.

Unless this QB has some sort of disciplinary or legal issues that is causing MSU to walk away, he needs to see an offer from UNT. If doesn't end up being a great QB here, maybe he becomes a WR, or maybe one of the QBs we have changes position. I just think we need to do that.

247 analysts putting in their crystal ball picks for Virgil to go play for Morris at SMU. 7 of the last 8 crystal ball picks for Virgil have gone to SMU. Including picks by some of the big shots on 247, like Ryan Bartow and Brian Perroni.
