A hope hatched nearly a year ago now, as North Texas celebrated arguably the finest moment in the history of its football program that a new era had dawned for the Mean Green.

UNT had just won a bowl game, knocking off UNLV in front of a pro-UNT crowd in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

That game, that season, was one that UNT hoped would change everything.

Not long after the sun set on the Sun Bowl on Saturday night, the time had arrived to face the harsh reality.

That one big season — as remarkable as it was — isn’t going to be the quick fix that many Mean Green fans hoped it would be.

UNT’s 35-17 loss to the Miners was just the latest indication.

Telling quote from Mac:

“Our offense was disappointing beyond description. To not get something going until late when the game was out of hand, I can’t even put into words my disappointment with our offense right now.”

Fire everybody from Lee Jackson to the General Academic Building janitor without severance. Raze the entire campus. Expel the entire student body. Re-establish the campus as a business/medical/Denton law school only. Charge tuition commiserate with any Ivy League school and tack on a $4,000 per credit hour athletic fee for students. Build a Sacks Fifth Avenue Free Range Oragnic Quinoa and Fruit Market at the entrance to the university off 35. Build the new Apogee to an initial capacity of 70,000, all chariback seating, and adjoining five-star hotel with room rates of $69 a night for season ticket holders. File suit against the NCAA to force Nick Saban into a lifetime contract as UNT head coach and impose an excise tax on all residents of Dallas/Collin/Denton/Tarrant counties for failure to purchase season tickets and failure to attend games.

But first and foremost, make sure my own tickets are free and that I've got the president and AD on priority speed dial.

When you don't play your most talented quarterback (which they have readily stated), what do they expect. We are so one dimensional without Dajon out there The other teams know Minimac won't keep the ball and run on the option read, they know he waits too long on most throws so every pass is challenged, and they know we only run a small number of patterns because of his high school arm. It's not a surprise Mac! Pull your head out of your stubborn ass and realize this!

hmm so he only calls out the offense, but not the defense run by his good friend, who apparently has already started retirement. Did he not notice the nearly 400 yds of rushing? The 200 yds of rushing after only 15 min of play.

Good grief where the hell is the real accountability? DMac is supposed to be some Defensive genius.

only the quote on the offense made the paper. I'm pretty sure he is aware that our defense sucked beyond belief and forgot to tackle. It was so painfully obvious

Scapegoat isn't the word I would use.

Accountable is the word I would use.

I think we see 2 new coordinators next year.

Skladany has had a great career. Wish him well in retirement.

Agree...however any new coordinator will struggle since there is a lack of talent.

This was my first thought as well. Looks like Mac is putting some of his staff on the hot seat......

I like it, and I hope you're correct.

Would love to see it get switched up on both sides of the ball. Let's bring in some coordinators that are willing to customize their playbooks to work with the current talent here. Good coaches elevate and make their players better.
