We are also NOT North Texas State for more than two decades but we do nothing to call these people out as either being very old or extremely stupid

I had an angry e-mail exchange with Eric Capper right after the SMU game regarding this issue. As I recall, the announcers blatantly talked about how we got our "Mean Green" moniker from Joe Greene. Eric Capper said that despite Randy Galloways article, they (SID's office) got conflicting stories from some people that went to school during that era and so it was still (to them) subject to doubt about the Sydney Graham story being the authentic one. Eric even hinted that Joe Greene was even saying that he believed it came from him.

And no one in the Athletic Department seems the least bit interested in nailing the story down so that it can be passed on to the younger generation.

Just another aspect of our culture....or the lack thereof
