The bowl question is now erased from the board for the UTEP football team. Hang it on the board.

Following a 35-17 destruction of North Texas that represents a mirror of the drubbing they took last year in Denton, the 6-4 Miners posed a different set of questions.

When is the last time UTEP was this good? When is the last time the defense was this good? When was the last time, with so much at stake, the Miners came out and laid this kind of beating on a team that was supposed to be far, far better than them two months ago?

The biggest game of the Kugler era was in substance, if not statistics, the finest moment, a statement, an exclamation point.

6-wins only means UTEP is bowl-eligible, not that they are guaranteed to go to a bowl.

CUSA has a lot of bowls tied to the conference. Pretty much every (if not every) team who can qualify will go to a bowl game.... If we had won out we would be in a bowl game for sure.

CUSA has 5 bowl tie-ins. At least 6, maybe 7 teams could be eligible. Who gets left home?

"UTEP joined Louisiana Tech, Marshall and defending league champion Rice as CUSA schools with post-season eligibility, The Miners, who posted 3-9 and 2-10 records the past two seasons, won their sixth game this past Saturday by last Saturday with a 35-17 victory over North Texas in El Paso. ALMOST THERE - three Conference USA (Middle Tennessee, UAB and Western Kentucky) schools need one more win each to gain bowl eligibility."

what? I thought, if anything, this UNT program has learned perspective.

After 2014, would you call the 2013 Mean Green a turnaround? Would you still hire McCarney?

We Denton folk can be a strange, emotional bunch.

EDIT: maybe there was sarcasm buried in your post. I did not have my detector on.

I truly believe North Texas is in the midst of a solid program build. This year is disappointing but I still think we rout FIU this weekend and pull the upset in San Antonio. That gives us 5 wins and remember days when I would dance in the streets for 3 or 4. I've seen a lot of losing over the past 28 years and while I am not excited about how we have played most games this year I will be at our bowl game Thanksgiving weekend.

Go Mean Green!!!!!

If Marshall gets the access bowl, and it looks like they might, then we would get teams in six bowls just on what are contracted.
