Not one of us is trying to bury our team. It's already buried.

We were hoping to dig it up and revive it after all these years and against all odds.

We had one good year that now seems so long ago.

In the highly (HIGHLY) unlikely scenario of winning out, we probably would be

ignored over by all bowls.

But if we happen to win out, it's some form of salvaging the season, right? I mean, I don't think we'll beat UTEP on the road... but I can see wins against FIU and UTSA. But if we do escape El Paso with a win, six wins makes us eligible for a bowl game. Whether or not we'd get one is another matter entirely, but hey... it's something. And that's something.

UNT has not fared well this year against teams with revenge on the mind from last year's whoopins. UTEP received one of the worst ones, aside from Southern Miss & poor Idaho.

Hate what Rice, LATech & even lowly USM did to us? Sokol:LATech = Showers:UTEP. Marinate on that a minute... then, reach for the shovel again.

I think we have a good chance of beating UTEP actually. Should be a good game. At least it brings some excitement to the end of an otherwise dreary season.

It is a disappointing year, no matter what happens. You can't cover up getting clobbered by teams that were relatively easy wins last year and having only one conference win and no road victories at this point.

That being stated, finishing out the year strong would give a great boost to the program from were its sets now and provide some hope for next year.

Our team is differant... their teams are differant... its football every year is differant... if we finish 6-6 regardless of getting a bowl or not.. thats a succesful season... how is it not? Lost most of the team from last year.. have a solid squad coming up and some outstanding recruits 6-6 especially after the last ten years is definatley a success!

Whoa, easy turbo. It's not a "successful" season. Salvaged yes, not successful. In my mind last year was only mildly successful. We have to at least win a division crown before we start calling seasons wildly successful.

How is last year mildly successful? 9-4? A bowl win first in 10 years? I applaud your standards but dam u expect a national championship? Considering the youth in key positions and lack of experiance in the older guys and after what we lost last year... 6-6 and a possible bowl would be very successful.. this program is really rising, recruits are coming... good ones but we have to look at it from a realistic perspective... cmon people.

mild success is coming in 3rd in your own division. Losing to a fellow G5 school that was very average. It was successful, but mildly. And no I am not expecting nattys, but at least a division crown during our "breakout" year.

But I do agree, things are falling in place. What is discouraging though is what is taking place down the road in Fort Worth. How can DFW take us serious when TCU has turned from garbage to title contender in one year while we lose to the likes of Southern Miss at home. Every student and alum has to push our brand out there at every given opportunity.

Well we have two differ ideas of success.. and yah... that program got a huge head start on ours... id say on and off for at leaste the last decade... dont know much about them in the swc days remember there last few years in mw.. but i agree i think the students pation is growing more and more every year seeing less and less tshirt fans on campus every year people are really staring to develop a pation for this program and this school.. i see alot more pride then i use to thats no doubt

Ps: it helps that theyre in the big 12 and the only big 12 school in the super talent rich metro area...

Are you kidding me! 6-6 draws eyeballs to the scene of that 38,000 in dallas less than a year ago. Longshot yes but we have some silent cheerleaders for sure.

I think we have a good chance of beating Craphole and FIU. Neither have anything left to play for.

UTEP is another story. Gonna have to score at least 35 to beat them. I don't think this offense is capable of that. Hope I'm wrong.

North Texas can win this game. Play zone on obvious passing downs and key on their QB. They want to pound the ball. Load it up with good discipline gap football and force them to throw. Play zone bc this QB can beat us with his legs. Call me crazy, but I think UTEP's strengths play into our strengths. I think we have more success running the rock from under center. We need to get back to that more often starting this week. We'll see how it goes. GMG

Yeah. I'd feel better if FIU was the road game and UTEP was the home game. I think there are too many factors working against us to do much better than 5-7.

But like I said, if they go on the road and somehow pull out the upset, 6-6 is very realistic. And I think 6-6 represents a salvaged season, in some way, shape, form. as that would mean we won (at least) the last four games of the season...

IF's and BUT's though...
