Harry, anyway we can hear the interview online anywhere?? Wish I could make these, work simply doesn't allow it. Can you give us a breakdown?

Thanks, should have clarified. I coach, and have games until late. Usually I am not done until 9 on Mondays. We finished a smudge early today.

Add in the transfers and its much less.

Epps walked on, and we never got confirmation that Sam Rice was coming in on scholarship. It's possible he walked on as well. Jackson twins also walked on as well.

What I'm wondering about is the walkons. Guys like Andy Flusche, Erick Evans, Sheldon Wade, Keena, Banogu, etc. All these guys who only played one season as a walkon before we put them on scholarship. I don't know why we wouldn't have to count them towards our class. If we do have 25 spots, then I would expect a large JUCO haul.

A huge JUCO haul. With a solid QB that has played in a juco program with a reputation. 2 DT, 2 DE and 1 safety to boost talent and quality depth. That is where we need significant help. KState lives off of JUCOS, we need to do the same; at least for the foreseeable future until we start signing classes that stick together and pan out.

I think you take some -- you have to - but I hate the idea of signing as many as you indicate. Maybe 3 difference makers.

I'm against big JUCO classes because it demonstrates desperation. That said, can somebody give me an example of the math that shows how bringing in too many JUCOs depletes available scholarships later? I don't understand that process too well.

I think it all depends on your program. K. St. Has made a top 20 living off of JUCOs throughout Snyder's tenure. It hasn't hurt their program.

It comes down to having a philosophy and sticking with it.

Im against jucos with this coaching staff. They cant pick them. You only have them for a short period of time and in most cases you need them to step in and start or at least be on the two deep.

It has to be a good fit. It works when the team has established an identity and they pick jucos that run the same system. Theres no time to develop a juco.

K-State is in the big 12. They get their pick of the litter of jucos. I think UAB is a better example of going full juco for us as they signed 15 last class.

No doubt K. St. plays on a different level, just using them as an example that you can be successful year in and year out with JUCOs if you have a cohesive plan.

I thought that Canales was a Mormon and a Mexican. That said, I wonder why he can't find a QB out west from one of those Tongan JUCOs like Snow JC in Utah.

I'd also try to find a QB in the most football talent-rich state in the union: Florida.

But really, I'm certain that I've read it hampers future scholarship numbers. How does that work? I can't visualize it.

In theory you can sign a maximum of 25 new scholarships a year. If you sign 25 each year and one year 10 are JUCO with two years left, then in two years 35 scholarships are leaving and you can only replace 25. That is my best shot at your question.

Year 1 -- offer 25 high school, zero leave

Year 2 -- offer 25 high school, zero leave

Year 3 -- offer 15 high school, 10 juco, zero leave

Year 4 -- offer 5 high school, 20 juco, zero leave

Year 5 -- offer 25, 25 leave from year 1

Year 6 -- 25 leave from year 2, 10 leave from year 3, offer 25, 10 scholarship deficit.

OK. I see. Thanks.
