I've mentioned this before, but Mac didn't come out of camp with a prepared team! Period. That includes knowing which players can play and which coaches can coach. It has been pathetic, especially coming off the bowl win.

...but maybe next year...

Rice loss was bad, but there were outside influences that factored in to that debacle, specifically the infamous Dodge/RV drug test of the entire team.

UAB is a team with a first year coach that only won one game against a fb division team last year, a three point victory over FIU; while giving up over 50 points in 6 games. I don't think that monstrosity they play in and their fan support gives them any favors either.

Picking between bad football losses at NT is a colossal task, but this ranks high and I am not sure I have ever seen a worst QB performance.

Agreed with everything you said until you got to the last sentence. 3/15 17 yards 4 ints will ring in my head forever.

...And I have seen a few of them. The turnovers were a killer but again we cannot stop anyone and just can't adjust. You hoped we were past these type of butt whippings but clearly we are not. `I am not giving up but my enthusiasm about this season has really diminished. The rest of this season needs to be finding out about who can make plays. We need to regroup as a program. Something needs to change -- whatever we are doing isn't working. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!! gmg

This is worse than losing to UAB for the first time in 95. We've had bad teams in the past but this team is bipolar. We either play great or get our teeth kicked in by mediocre teams. Hell, we had 15 yards passing against Texas and left with our dignity. I guess this is why I'm she'll shocked. Edited by UNTexas

I See your point, but keep in mind that was a 9 or 10 win Rice team that was in a different (read: better) conference than we were when that game was played.

This was a conference foe with a 3-2 record entering the game that included a conference loss to FIU.

I'm think this was worse.

The RIce game was our low point as a Division 1 program. We could have lost that game 100+ to 20, except Rice called off the dogs. RIce--I don't care if they won 9 games or not--should never ebat anyone in this state by that kind of score. The UAB game was terrible--no doubt about it. But we aren't in the midst of winning one game in the crappiest conference in FBS with a HS coach in charge. The only thing that Dodge's 1-11 team has on this is at QB, which is very telling right now. Everything else, no matter how bad it is right now, is still better than that team was.

      Should we add Texas State to the AAC?

      Agree on JMU, they have a strong brand, fan base, and admin. that makes the right choices. For those same reasons I'd put App. State at #2.

      Who did better? PAC 12 or Mountain West?

      MWC is a push in overall terms from before the raid to after. Still a solid G6 but lower than the AAC in my mind. PACx has survived, which is all one can really expect for a conference that got shattered in the realignment. But the 2 legacy P4 schools cannot elevate that new version higher than the G6 bunch. Both of the conferences will get low-to-mid TV coverage, and fill the late schedule spots. For the AAC, I'm happy with Army over SMU. I wish we could have pulled Air Force, but so be it. I do expect the PACx to make another run at Memphis, that should be interesting. Fun fact: I've been tracking the realignment via a spreadsheet. As of the NIU change, 46 teams have changed conferences since OUT announced their move to the SEC.

      Because Morris & Cobbs believed they didn't need to. I think McGill, Harris, & Evans are returning, but who knows if Harris or Evans will even be healthy? We added Becks from MOSt, and Hawkins from HS in OK, but who knows what they bring? I don't know that McGill is a starting caliber RB in the AAC. If you think Porter should have been scholarship'd, you're second-guessing Pat. I doubt anyone around here really wants to second-guess Pat's judgement of talent. OR (and this is doubtful), Pat pushed to have Porter 'shiped, but Morris said "no". If that's the case, and Porter goes on to ball-out at UTEP while we struggle in the run game, it's another log on a growing fire under Morris' seat.

      Who did better? PAC 12 or Mountain West?

      The PAC stands a real chance of becoming the 'Big East of the West', but I think they'll still be fighting to get into the CFP each year with the rest of the G5. MWC obviously is a huge downgrade since they're the conference that got raided. The best thing they have going for them is stability. Outside of AFA and, to a lesser degree, NIU and UNLV, no one has any interest in those schools. AAC did well with the Army pickup. What happens in the next few years under the new commissioner will be important. As a conference, we've scheduled ourselves into a one bid joke like Sun Belt or CUSA. They've gotta figure out some strategy there. For football, it's hard to say we're better or worse off than last year. SMU going to the CFP was a fluke compared with the past 30 years, but I imagine they'll be a stronger program in general than they were in the AAC due to the amount of money and attention the ACC brings. At least while it lasts...
