I'm trying to keep a level head, but I would love to see some exploding spread offense at North Texas.

We don't have a quarterback that can play that style. We're running 4 and 5 wide at times. Can't get much more wide open than that.

Yeah. Very true. I was hoping for some "explosiveness" though.

We are really, really bad. I have been in denial for some time now, but it isn't some cruel coincidence that every team we play has a master defensive game plan. We are a bottom ten team with wins over two HORRIBLE teams.

I hate to say this . . . but last year was an aberration with a senior-heavy team. We are headed for a losing record for the third time out of four McCarney seasons.

Canales seems more concerned with QB "tests" then actually trying to teach the QB or open up the playbook a little bit. There were a couple of calls during the UAB game which didn't put Dajon in a great position to begin with. That said, Dajon still needs to make better decisions on his part.

I wonder if Mac will start McNulty next week or stick with Dajon. I think we need to stick with Dajon but if his decision-making doesn't start to improve, we may need to revisit the idea of him starting - at least through the end of the year.

I don't see how this game falls on play calling. We moved the ball right down the field on the first two drives, only to have drives stall on drops by WRs and penalties. Right after that DW drops the ball on the turf and throws a pick 6. Next up the defensive line starts pinning their ears back and we saw that Lemon has no business being out on the edge.

Hard to call plays when your QB makes boneheaded decisions and can't tell where to go with the ball on critical downs, have an oline that can't pass block, and receivers who drop the ball. DW is a talent, but we can't be playing from behind for him to be successful at this point.

What type of contract extension did that dumbass RV give Mac last year? RV is the one that needs his ass canned along with Mac, Canales, Benford and our beloved Jackson.

Fixed. I think Mac can turn this thing around, but all of the others can go pound the pavement for new jobs as far as I am concerned.

The offense has never been potent under Canales. He's very good at running a very average offense. That's why this year is so bad; Skladany's D and Perry's ST are no longer scoring TDs or making huge stops. Instead of having an average offense, great defense, and great special teams, we have below average offense, awful defense, average special teams. Difference between 9-4 and what's looking like a 3-9 or 4-8 season.

The offense took a hit, but nowhere near the hit we took in defense and special teams. If those two units were as solid this year as last year, we'd be looking at 5-1 or 4-2 at worst.

I believe some of you didn't watch the UAB game, that was a pretty aggressive offensive game plan. It was obviously not implemented well but those turnovers had little to do with the game plan.

Exactly. The game plan wasn't well executed, but it was pretty aggressive!

It was aggressive, I agree. Aggressive is not good for a young QB making his first conference road game start. Aggressive is not good in general unless you got a veteran QB back there. They weren't even aggressive with DT unless they had to be, a la Ball St. Play calling sucked, it did.

I don't agree on Mac being on this list, but the others on the list are either understandable (Canales) or deserved (Jackson, RV, and Benford).

That said, when have you ever seen the university fire someone before it was deemed "affordable" to do or at the appropriate time, you know, say like when there is an accounting scandal that will cost the university $75 million or so?

You have a better chance of winning the lottery than to have UNT fire all of the people you listed above with the next 2-3 years.
