Happens all the time. It is a good reason to get rid of the recruiting schedule, and allow scholarships within any time after junior year. Of course some, see Bedford, don't even let scholarship agreements get in their way.

I believe Vito's information about Bingham's eligibility may be incorrect, and possibly the reason we aren't sure about the commitment. Vito says Bingham stills has his redshirt eligibility remaining, but according to this article Bingham played JUCO ball in 2012, sat out in 2013, and was playing this season prior to the injury. Bingham may not have officially redshirted in 2013, but by playing and enrolling full time in 2012, he started his eligibility counter. So he only has two years left to play two.

Not only is corner possibly the hardest position to recover from a torn ACL, but Bingham would be looking at missing a lot of valuable practice time while recovering. Then he'd only have a year left to truly play, if everything went right. Not to mention that we just signed a JUCO who played in 3 career games with us because of torn ACLs, and Freddie Warner's re-tearing of his ACL at CB. It's a tough situation and you hate to see it, but you can't do much other than hope for the best for Bingham.

Unless we put an injury stipulation in our verbal scholarship offer, it is wrong to withdraw the offer because of injury. That is bad business. If we are so short on scholarships maybe we find a way out of having multiple scholarships devoted to long snappers. How many punters and kickers are on scholarship now?

This is today's college football. Schools have all the power. Every school does this. The kid even said that he understands UNT's position.

The schools don't have all the power. Kids can switch commitments any time. But a school should hold itself to a level of responsibility and accountability higher than that of an 18-year old kid. Your word should be your word. And it sounds like the kid doesn't understand and is butt hurt trying to get our coaches banned from his campus. This situation gives ammunition to the schools we recruit against, too. And Angelo State and Lamar don't need more help. Lol.

Did you mean to post this in the basketball forum?

Looks like CB is really going to be our achille's heel next year. Hopefully, the guys currently behind Whitfield, Buyers and Lee are getting ready to take the next step. Our secondary was just awful in the T.D. years and I sure don't want to see a return to that.

I know it sucks to hear this story, and I feel bad for the kid, but I hope we put more emphasis on high school athletes and only offer elite juco's from hear on out... i hope he kicks butt wherever he goes
