WHAT IT MEANS: Where do you start? Most importantly, it’s a C-USA win and that’s huge. But really it means much more, especially when talking about the confidence of a team. The Blazers won on the road against one of the top offensive teams in the country and they beat the Hilltoppers at their own game.

WHEN THE GAME TURNED: The second half had a bunch of twists and turns and it was impossible to feel comfortable until the clock struck zero. But, the turning point came on the opening series of the second half when the Blazers set the tone for the final 30 minutes with a 3-and-out.

WHY UAB WON: Again, where do you start? The Blazers won because of a gutsy effort by quarterback Cody Clements, the running of Jordan Howard and D.J. Vinson, an incredible effort by the offensive line and big contributions by the offensive line. And that just covers the offense. The defense made play after play in the second half and limited the Western Kentucky offense to just one second half touchdown.

WHAT IS THE KEY STAT: UAB had 591 yards on 89 offensive plays and were the best offensive team on the field Saturday night. Western Kentucky had just 133 offensive yards in the second half.

WHO GETS THE GAME BALLS:

*The five guys up front – Brian O’Leary, Cameron Blankenship, Roscoe Byrd, Victor Salako and Hayden Naumann owned the line of scrimmage in the second half.

*Jake Ganus had eight tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss and made some huge plays in the final half.

*Cody Clements was a sterling 22 of 25 for 300 yards with two touchdowns through the air. He also had scored on a 5-yard run and sealed the game with a fourth down quarterback
