Turned it off when he blatantly said he doesn't make defensive adjustments then backtracked. Coach sounds like a broken record, there's no doubt about it. Beyond atrocious defensive performances are usually bc of player positioning, which is 95% coaching. Put your players in the right spot to make the play. If your undersized right DE and right DT or vice versa are getting pushed back into the lap of your LB's almost every run play, adjust. Put your DE ends at DT and try to speed rush gaps and use your DT's to set the edge at end. Granted not every play, but change it up. When going mono y mono is not working changes are a must. Stack the gaps with all 3 LB's, then bail 2 out. Keep doing it and keep changing who the bail outs are. We are an undersized defense and speed is our strength. We are not playing to our strength.

Ben you are such a fool. If speed is our strength, players need to line up and know where they're going. That's how you utilize speed.

Yes, I agree. They need to know where they are going. They need to be put in situations to be successful. Our coaches are watching the edge of our D, whichever side, be blown off the ball and to my recollection doing nothing schematically to help set the edge. Once the edge is engulfed by blockers, which it has been consistently, there are two small corners having to make td saving tackles far too often. LB's haven't been given the opportunity to clean up plays bc there is nothing being cut back inside to them bc of literally no edge being set on the LOS. It happened over and over and over against IU. Not to praise the LB's by any stretch. Though they have been playing with an OL and DT in their lap most plays they are still more times than not taking bad angles to the football and aren't filling their gap. It's a pretty bad defense right now and not just bc of the personnel.
