BOCA RATON Conference USA East Division leader Florida Atlantic (3-3, 2-0 in Conference USA) comes off its bye week Saturay night for a showdown with C-USA West leader North Texas (4-2, 3-0) at FAU Stadium. With a win, FAU will have four wins in a single season for the first time since 2013, when the Owls finished 6-6. Under new head coach Lane Kiffin, the Owls are in a position to compete for a C-USA championship if their offense continues to dominate and their defense forces more turnovers. The Florida Atlantic football team began the season against Navy and Wisconsin. They were arguably the toughest opponents on this year’s schedule, but the Owls are now preparing for another difficult challenge. Saturday’s matchup against North Texas marks the first in a challenging three-game stretch that could determine the outcome of the season. After North Texas, the Owls play at Western Kentuckyand Marshall. The Hilltoppers are the defending Conference USA champions, and Marshall in undefeated in league play. “It’s going to be tough,” FAU linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair said. “Every week it’s going to be a fight. It’s kind of up for grabs for everybody.
