  1. Come one come all! Join fellow Mean Green fans and watch our beloved North Texas take on the Trojans of Troy on the gridiron. D E C E M B E R 1 6 T H A T H I G H N O O N ! Fuzzy's Taco Shop is located at 790 W. Exchange Blvd. in Allen The game will be on ALL TVs. Game audio will be broadcast throughout the restaurant*. We'll have some free UNT items as well as door prizes drawn at half time. *Please note that though the game audio will be turned up, crazed Mean Green fans singing the fight song at the top of their lungs and shouting "FIRST DOWN" may occasional drown out any respectable sound system.
  2. Just heard one of the hosts do a commercial spot promoting the start of Bowl watching season by heading up to the NO Bowl watching party in Denton. He even ended the promo with a "CAW!" Love hearing local guys talking about THEIR school with pride. GMG!
  3. We've got a really good list going of things to do, but there are also some things to avoid. New Orleans has very weird hustle culture, with an ever churning group trying to run various scams. At first it might seem fun to give a guy a dollar for a classic joke, but you quickly get noted as a mark and the hustle can quickly move from fun to intimidating to a crime. Street Hustles. "Know where you get dem' shoes?" "I bet I can spell your first name" "Let me shine those shoes" "Hold this hat" "Party Police" "I'm just trying to get some food" "I'm trying to get home" "The shelter is full tonight" Wastes of Money "Weed pops" "Any Ministry" or "non-profit" "kids in the same color shirt with donation buckets"

  5. The Bourbon Street construction project is bad. It looks like the 200, 300, & 400 block are closed. There are sidewalks to access the businesses, but street itself is closed. There is a good chance the 200 block and maybe even the 300 block will be open by December 15th. So in finding home bars, we may want to look further down the street in the 600 & 700 blocks like Bourbon Heat, Cats Meow, Crazy Corner, Pat O'Briens, Saints & Sinners, and Tropical Isle. This week's construction update. (We'll know more early next week). https://roadwork.nola.gov/roadwork/media/Documents/Bourbon/FQIIP-Status-update-Dec-04-2017.pdf
  6. Does anyone have any info on this? Not so interested in bowling, is there a list of what the other stops are going to be?
  7. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ranking-all-39-college-football-bowl-games-from-boca-raton-to-sugar-bowl/ 15. New Orleans Bowl -- Troy vs. North Texas -- Dec. 16, 1 p.m.: Remember when Troy beat LSU earlier this season? Seems like a long time ago. Anyway, the Trojans and a surprising North Texas team should provide an entertaining game on the first day of bowl season.
  8. "Worst New Orleans Bowl Ever: North Texas 24, Cincinnati 19 in 2002. Just 19,024 fans showed up in the 76,000-seat Superdome to see the 7-5 Mean Green take a 24-7 lead on the 7-6 Bearcats, and hang on." http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--dashing-through-the-college-football-bowl-season-154321728.html other quotes from the article: "Now the end is in sight, so we're willing to embrace the mangy likes of the Heart of Dallas Bowl" "Heart of Dallas Bowl (28): North Texas vs. UNLV, Jan. 1. Watchability (scale of 1-5): 1. Don't waste your remote batteries. If the Rose Bowl is the Granddaddy of Them All, this is the unwanted orphan of New Year's Day bowls." "Dash Pick: North Texas 32, UNLV 21. Mean Green is 3-3 against 2013 bowl teams. Rebels are 1-4. North Texas defense is the best unit in the game, and if quarterback Derek Thompson doesn't turn the ball over UNT should win comfortably."
  9. The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl announced today the signing of six-year contract extensions with both Conference USA and the Sun Belt Conference. This will guarantee both Division I football conferences invitations to the New Orleans Bowl through the 2019 football season. Executive Director of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, Billy Ferrante, worked diligently with both conference staffs to secure the new deals. "We are thrilled to have the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA extend their contracts with our game. This showcases the growth that the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl has had over the past 12 years, and we look forward to the next six years of working with these two conferences to create a one of a kind experience for the student-athletes, coaches and University administrations." A Sun Belt Conference representative has earned an invitation to the bowl since 2001, and Louisiana’s Ragin Cajuns have been the bowl Champion for the past two years. Bowl officials will be granted the first selection of a bowl-eligible Sun Belt team each season. Read more: http://www.nola.com/nobowl/index.ssf/2013/08/the_rl_carriers_new_orleans_bo.html
  10. Format: The championship game was the Rose Bowl. The regular Rose Bowl wasn't played. Illinois fans were not very happy about it. Number of bowls: 25. New bowls: New Orleans. Also, the Oahu Bowl moved to Seattle and became the Seattle Bowl, and the Aloha Bowl took the year off. Number of Division I-A teams: 117. New schools: South Florida and Troy (independent) Conference realignment: The Big West disbanded, and the Sun Belt started up.
