Re: Independent vs Conference#536665 By cruzan_flame13 - September 14th, 2017, 8:48 pm I see us going the route as Notre Dame did back a few decades ago. I'm not saying we will be identical to Notre Dame, especially the fact that the game isn't the same as it was. I do feel we will go the independent route for awhile and continue to contain great connections with other school AD's that are close with AD McCaw. At the same time I see this helping our Olympic sports and the blessings that we have in facilities. If we can get into a nice conference that is not football affiliated, I don't see the point of having football in a conference. If some reason the Big XII finally put aside their pride and add some other schools and then some how we can get a spot with the AAC, then I would think that LU might consider. Anything lower than the AAC in G5 terms is not worth it for football. Of course I would hope that LU would get an opportunity with the A-10 or Big East for their Olympic sports (hopefully they'll progress on a sufficient and discipline manner without any unlawful deals with student athletes/prospects). I really see LU getting very noticeable on an athletic level from now on. In conclusion, independent is the way to go since the crew can create great schedules for football(hopefully that will rub off on the other sports). read more: https://forums.aseaofred.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25847

I am free. I am free because a brave young man died in a stinking trench in the woods in Ardennes from a horrific mustard gas attack. I am free because a brave sailor still lies entombed in the Arizona. I am free because some brave 18 year old from a small town in Nebraska scared to death ran off a landing craft on the beaches of Normandy and did not make it ten yards before he was killed. I am free because a man under fed and under clothed against a ferocious Korean winter and faced overwhelming odds in the Inchon valley against communist forces and died there. I am free because a young man decided to obey his country's order to serve in a unpopular war and sit in a foxhole in a miserable jungle fighting a unseen enemy. Only to step on a booby trap and not come home to a country that did not respect he was there to begin with. I am free because men still to this day die in a desert to stop a facist religion intent on taking all that we believe in away from us. This is why i am free and this is why i will not forget today, tomorrow or any time i see the flag presented. This is why my only duty is too make sure my son understands the price that was paid so he too will not forget, because if we do we will cease to exist a free nation. God bless all who gave their life for me and the families that still live with their memories. Have A Safe Memorial Day! Rick

And to get a foot in the door in an extremely competitive business, a coach often has to start on the bottom rungs of the ladder. Gill began his career as a volunteer assistant on Tom Osborne’s staff at Nebraska before taking a job as a graduate assistant at North Texas, where he completed his undergraduate degree. Gill remembers some of the valuable lessons he learned from those roles. “It’s a great way to learn the game of football,” Gill said. “You learn a lot, looking at things from different perspectives. It can help you, no matter what position you end up coaching, you have a better understanding of the game.” read more: http://www.newsadvance.com/sports/liberty_university/young-coaches-learning-on-the-fly-at-lu/article_b7420bcc-21c7-11e4-86be-0017a43b2370.html

I am down in Miami for the FIU-FIU hoops swing, but I did make a couple of calls on the recruiting front and talked with Omar Tebo, a defensive tackle from Liberty, Texas. Tebo is coming to UNT on an official visit this weekend and said he would like to commit to UNT. The issue is he is a little farther down on UNT’s wish list at this point. Tebo indicated that there is another lineman who is considering an offer from Tulane in front of him on UNT’s recruiting board. UNT only has three scholarships left and several players still on the board. Read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2013/01/thursday-afternoon-recruiting-update-tebo-ing.html/
