WR Trent Taylor has had a good summer. Not only has the wide receiver helped his team win two seven-on-seven tournaments, he really impressed at Louisiana Tech’s camp. Taylor said after he talked to head coach Sonny Dykes at the Bulldogs camp in late June, he thought an offer was coming.
He was right. He got his first offer on July 3.
“I was extremely excited because Louisiana Tech is a great spread offense,” said Taylor, who is getting interest from North Texas, Houston and a “little” from SMU. “I love all the coaches, too.”
Taylor said it also helped that current Bulldogs defensive back Quinn Giles, also a former Evangel Eagle, showed Taylor’s game film to Tech coaches.
The Eagles’ latest tournament wins (Louisiana College and the Red Bull qualifier in Arlington, Texas) have advanced them to this week’s national Red Bull tournament in Dallas and the Hoover tournament later this month.
To win at Louisiana College, Taylor caught a Hail Mary pass on his knees to help Evangel escape past Airline. Taylor, who also picked up the nickname “Little Wes Welker” at the Red Bull qualifier, said it was one of his summer highlights.
