The Longhorns open the 2014 season against North Texas on Aug. 30, but the Charlie Strong Era, for all intents and purposes, begins on Sept. 6. For all all of the talk in the offseason about becoming a tougher football team, Texas will have a chance to prove exactly how tough they are on that night while at the same time taking one big step towards healing the scar that remains from last year's uninspiring showing in Provo.
As a pride factor that ought to be something you have circled on your calendar, if you're a man, Quandre Diggs said at Big 12 Media Days. We got beat down that day. You want me to keep it real? Those guys played a better game and beat our tail. We lost a man his job, his way of earning money for his family. As a man you want to go out and beat those guys.
Fans will have to wait until Sept. 6 if the Longhorns are able to back up their words with the type of performance worthy of finally being able to put that game behind them and show that a new leaf has indeed been turned over.
