-Whoever is still with this team by the end of camp is going to be physically and mentally tough. Coach Petrino is not a friend or a father figure to these guys, he is a drill seargent and will kick their butts left, right, and center and if they are crazy enough to show any weakness, he'll kick them while they're down. There is no doubt about what he expects of them in terms of discipline and effort. Every time I watch a Petrino practice I become more convinced that the biggest thing the Akey teams were lacking was someone to beat the crap out of them physically and emotionally and make them reach for more than what comes easily to them. -The team speed is night and day different from Akey's teams. In the past we've had some fast guys, but this team has many more of them. Montgomery, Sannon, McCain, Grabski, Epps, Dixon and some others have next level speed. Fun to watch. -Among the true freshmen, Montgomery, Thompson and Linehan were particularly impressive. Good luck setting the edge against Montgomery, he gets there so freaking quick. Linehan has great mechanics and footwork (as you might imagine from a kid who's dad is an NFL coach) his release is quick and he's extremely accurate. He needs to put on about 20 lbs but he's the most polished passer we've had set foot on campus as a freshman since Friesz arrived.....and he's got much faster legs than Friesz did. Brett Thompson is a great athlete. He's a very big kid, but that guy is an athlete, there's not a whole lot of fat on him and he moves really well at 6'5" and 315. The potential is there for him to be an NFL lineman. -McCain's speed is going to make the QB competition interesting. Chalich has a head start on the offense, and he's a good athlete too, but McCain is SO quick, and for a guy as skinny as he is he's got a surprising gun on him. As I've said several times, we're going to need more than one QB sooner or later this season anyway. Read more: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=205&f=2664&t=11752888
