Coach Mac's contract - lots's of rumors, some saying 5 years, beyond -- I've heard 2018 mentioned. But why is it taking so long? Seem like they were close to finishing it near signing day and that was almost a month ago. Will they bump up the assistant positions now that we have lost two coaches? Will Mac be able to say he will finish his career here? In the end result, I think we're all hoping that the delays are due to getting a more competitive compensation package in place. Two new football assistants to be hired: Replacements need to be found for outgoing recruiting coordinator and safety coach Noah Joseph as well as our top recruiter Ryan Walters (corners). Will UNT go young or will they try to land coaches with more of a track record? Are there any other coaches who are being called on or will Mac be able to say his staff for 2014 is in place? Financial issues being investigated at UNT: Not directly tied to athletics but in a way it is. There were three resignations in the Finance area at UNT and new Pres Smatresk is looking to get things back on track. The good news is it appears to be more of a lack of competence as opposed to fraud or anything illegal. Still it is concerning all the same and I would imagine it could freeze up any money that is being requisitioned or at least slow things down. Hate to see this type of stuff but it can happen. Just hope it gets fixed quickly and is prevented from happening again. Makes you wonder though if the financial issues being investigated aren't impacting the timing of Mac, his assistants and baseball. Baseball?: Whether or not we want it to happen or not, it does appear that the baseball dream may be delayed from the original timetable. To field a team in 2015 at this point in the year would be very difficult. I understand that they do not want to start the program until the facility picture is very clear. Still was hoping to see UNT baseball come back in 2015.
