Guy is a proven winner and has done it at a similar place (Houston). Kids love him. I hope and pray Wren is talking to him now about what it will take. He will take us to places we never dreamed about before.

News arrived concerning a former Texas football head coach early this week, indicating that he will be shifting his role from coaching to the broadcast booth. Former Texas head coach Tom Herman is reportedly set to join the CBS Sports broadcast team this fall. Herman’s first game as a color analyst with CBS Sports will reportedly come on Sep. 3, when the North Texas Mean Green out of Conference-USA takes on the SMU Mustangs out of the American Athletic Conference. Moreover, this is definitely an interesting shift in roles for Herman after he joined the Chicago Bears as an offensive analyst/special projects coach following his departure from Texas a couple of years ago. Herman wound up spending just one season on staff with the Bears before making this shift to the commentator booth. read more: https://hookemheadlines.com/2022/08/08/former-texas-football-hc-tom-herman-to-join-cbs-broadcast-team/

Houston Coaching Candidate Wish List: 5 Replacements For Tom Herman Seth Littrell, North Texas Head Coach The Mean Green won just one game in 2015. Enter Littrell, who has North Texas at 5-6 entering its regular-season finale and on the cusp of a possible bowl bid in his first season. The former Oklahoma team captain, who won the 2000 national championship in Norman, coached under Mike Leach at Texas Tech from 2005 to 2008 and was at Arizona from 2009 to 2011. He really started to turn heads after he moved on to work under Larry Fedora at North Carolina in 2014 and was part of the Tar Heels’ 11-3 team in his final season before he moved onto UNT. He has only been there a year, but he has already started to re-establish himself in the Lone Star State. He is bound for a bigger job sooner than later. read more: https://campusinsiders.com/news/houston-coaching-candidate-wish-listreplacements-for-tom-herman-11-26-2016/

Last season, the Coogs won 13 games, including a 38-24 victory over No. 9 Florida State in the Peach Bowl. The only teams to win more games than Houston last year - CFP champion Alabama and runner-up Clemson. Their path to the Peach Bowl also included a 49-28 rout over Chad Morris and the rebuilding 2-win SMU Mustangs, and in a recent conversation with the Rotary Club of Houston, Herman threw out this jab against the Mustangs: 'We understand the price of a championship. That price is the same for Alabama, as it is for Ohio State, as it is for the University of Houston...In order to pay that price you've got to be willing to invest. Guess what? There's a price for 9-win seasons. There's a price for 8-win seasons and 7-win seasons and 6-win seasons...And if you're satisfied with going 7-5 and going to the Poulan Weed-Eater Bowl, then great. Then you're in the wrong program, and we'll find a place for you to go. I hear there's a private school up in Dallas that's really looking to try to get to 7 wins...We are into building championships.' read more: http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/smumustangs/2016/05/12/ironic-shots-fired-houstons-head-coach-think-smu-willing-pay-price-winning-football-program

HOUSTON -- In his first news conference as a head coach, Tom Herman admitted that as an assistant, he admired the Houston coaching job from afar. As someone who cut his teeth as an assistant at myriad Texas universities -- Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas and Texas State among them -- he knew the landscape well enough to understand the kind of talent that existed in the state and, in particular, the city of Houston. "You can get good players," Herman said Wednesday. "That's a lot of the battle. I tell people all the time that the mark of a really good coach is turning an average player to good, a good player to great, a great player to elite and an elite player to a champion. But not even the best of coaches can make average players elite. I think what it says is that the recruiting base within a 200-mile radius is phenomenal around this place." read more: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14288080/from-art-briles-kevin-sumlin-tom-herman-houston-keeps-finding-great-coaches

The 39-year-old Herman, a Cincinnati native, spent the first 10 years of his career coaching in the state of Texas before becoming offensive coordinator at Iowa State (2009-11). He has been quarterbacks coach and playcaller for Ohio State teams that have gone 36-3 the past three seasons. The Buckeyes rank fifth in the nation in yards per play this season and finished fifth in yards per play last season. Under Herman, Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller was the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett stepped in this season after Miller was injured in the preseason, and Herman helped developed him into a Heisman Trophy contender. Barrett set a conference record for touchdowns responsible for this season before going down with a season-ending injury against Michigan. The next week, Ohio State won the Big Ten championship game and locked up a playoff spot with a 59-0 victory against Wisconsin with backup quarterback Cardale Jones leading the offense. Last week, Herman won the Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in college football. Herman is an outstanding recruiter, and played a major role in helping Ohio State land a commitment from five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage.
