Duke's academics were a major influence in his decision, but he also sees a winning football program being built. Korona was playing tight end as a junior but was moved to left tackle to fill in for an injured player and became an honorable mention all-district player. He has 5.1-second speed and also competes in the discus and shot put for his school's track-and-field team. Korona said that Duke recruited him to play either offensive tackle position.
