Western Kentucky @ North Texas Friday, October 31st 7:00 P.M. Mean Green Soccer Complex (across Bonnie Brae from Apogee, next to Lovelace) I hope the mods let this fly on the football board for a few days since this forum easily has the highest traffic. Mean Green football related because the soccer team plays across the street from the Dickey practice fields, plays on a former football field (and its real grass!), and soccer=futbol/football in other countries. Lets #FilllSoccerStadium and will our squad to victory. For those who aren't aware, the soccer team will be playing for the regular season CUSA title and North Texas' first Conference USA championship in any sport. There are even spots where you can watch without paying if money is your issue. Bring your drums and vuvuzelas. Be loud, be proud, Go Mean Green

Jackie Kerestine wasnt asked to do much in her first live game action in almost a year. The North Texas goalkeeper joked after her teams season-opening 3-0 win over Texas Southern on Friday that she was tired and beat on a night when she faced just one shot on goal. Kerestine tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee in the fourth game of last season and insisted being back on the field at the Mean Green Soccer Complex made up for a slow night. Well take it, Kerestine said of the win. Every once in a while they [Texas Southern] kept me on my toes, so I stayed in the zone. I felt like a freshman; it was nerve-wracking. It also felt natural. I belong out there. Read more: http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/north-texas-headlines/20140822-women-s-soccer-mean-green-blanks-texas-southern-in-opener.ece

Saturday, March 8 Oklahoma 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23 @ TCU noon Saturday, April 5 Texas 3:00 P.M. @ UT-Dallas Saturday, April12 Baylor 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 18 SMU 7:00 P.M. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/012814aac.html - three home games and two relatively easy commutes to Fort Worth and Dallas for the other two matches - with Baylor's recent groundbreaking on a $3.5 million soccer facility, it is becoming increasingly imperative that we spend more money on Coach Hedlund's soccer digs at MGV. We have an excellent program and are located in a fertile hotbed of talent, but recruits might nix staying at home to head to other schools that spend more $$ on soccer. At the very least, we need modernize the seating area and build a real bathroom/concession facility at the stadium. I would also like to see an updated scoreboard and perhaps a renovated locker room for our team.

Kodi Tutt stood in front of the North Texas soccer team Wednesday in her pink shoes with butterfly wings attached and shared her story of triumph and tragedy, of hospital stays and battling cancer. Tutts tale has touched the hearts of hundreds of people from her hometown of Sanger to those as far away as Australia, including Kelsey Hodges. The UNT senior met the family a few months ago when she began working with Kodi Tutts older sister Maegan on her soccer skills. What started out as a fun way to help out a young player turned into something much more meaningful for Hodges, who helped organize a charity event surrounding the Mean Greens Conference USA opener at 7 p.m. Friday against Southern Mississippi. UNT will have a bounce house, face painting station and silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m., with all proceeds going to the Kick It Kodi foundation. After getting to know them over the last year, it felt like the right thing to do, Hodges said. They have given a lot to me as far as getting to know Kodi and Maegan and kind of being their older sister. It seemed like a cool idea, and they already have the Kick it Kodi foundation that helps kids with cancer who dont have the opportunities every little kid should have to run and play. Kodi, an energetic redhead who is now 9, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nerve cells, on March 9, 2010.
