"I get that we'd like to win more games," Glass said. "But I also think you just can't overstate the impact of Nate going down." The play in which Sudfeld was hurt took Indiana out of bowl contention. The other fateful play was a pass-turned-fumble that contributed to a 42-39 loss to Minnesota last year. The Hoosiers were driving toward a tying or winning score that would have given them the necessary six wins to qualify for a bowl game. Glass conceded "it's kind of loser talk" to bring up those plays but said Indiana is making progress elsewhere. He said he is "bullish" on the talent on Indiana's roster. Football insiders have told him Indiana had a bowl team before Sudfeld was hurt. Glass said he hadn't read a story on Sports Illustrated's website reporting Wilson likely would be fired. He said that report, and rumors that Wilson was looking to leave Indiana for a coordinator's job, could have been planted by adversaries who count on beating Indiana every year. Hoosier State of Mind takes a look at the key players for Indiana football’s upcoming opponent. This week, let’s examine the North Texas Mean Green. The Hoosiers, reeling from a 37-15 beatdown at the hands of Maryland return home to host 2-2 North Texas. For an Indiana team seeking to keep its bowl game hopes alive, this one is a must win. Here’s who you need to know when the Mean Green line up against the Hoosiers on Saturday. Quarterback Dajon Williams Williams, a redshirt freshman, relieved Josh Greer in the fourth quarter of the Mean Green’s second game of the season against Louisiana Tech. North Texas had put up just 134 yards through three quarters before Williams led the Mean Green to a pair of late touchdowns on three possessions. Clearly, he was the spark this team needed. He started North Texas’ next game against lowly Nicholls State and was 11-of-14 through the air for 176 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball four times for 68 yards and two TDs. It sounds impressive, but I wouldn’t look too much into it. Nicholls State is a terrible, terrible team. So, in summary, Williams is your classic dual-threat QB, and considering how the Hoosiers did against Maryland’s dual-threat QB, Williams could be in for a big day. Indiana (2-2) returns to non-conference play Saturday against visiting North Texas (2-2) in a 2:30 p.m. game on the Big Ten Network. Protection, route running, play-calling, dropped balls and errant throws were all responsible for passing problems, Wilson said. He declined to blame the loss of big targets Cody Latimer, Kofi Hughes and Ted Bolser, who were all in NFL camps. Wilson said he was confident issues would be resolved because passing in the previous two games – 31-of-41 for 347 yards at Bowling Green and 18-of-33 for 252 yards at Missouri – was effective. "But it's got to be consistent," Wilson said. He said moving wideout Shane Wynn to the slot, where he previously played, is not the answer. He conceded opponents are committed to stopping the run and are "not respecting the pass game Read more:
