Harrison had moved from Atoka to Midwest City before his junior year. Basketball had long been his passion and he had never played any football, except in pickup games with his buddies in the yard. Once I put that helmet on and started playing for real, I feel in love with football, Harrison said. Now, Division I football coaches are becoming more and more intrigued with Harrison, who stands 6-foot-5 with cleats on, and now weighs 290 pounds with a 6-foot-11 wingspan. We are in the middle of arguably one of the busiest times overall in UNT athletics. Basketball season is in the stretch run and national signing day is just a few days away. We haven’t even talked about the Conference USA meetings this week (we will get to that in a minute). But first off, a bit of news on the recruiting front. When we last spoke to Oklahoma defensive lineman Demikal Harrison, he had committed to UTEP, but left open the possibility of making a late trip to UNT. Harrison said this afternoon that he won’t visit UNT. Tulsa has now jumped in and offered. Part of the attraction of UNT for Harrison is that it is closer to home than UTEP.
