  1. UNT appeared to be out of the running for D.J. Dean, a cornerback from Newton who committed to Utah a few months ago. Dean said Friday that the situation has changed. UNT is very much in the hunt for the three-star athlete. “I like the coaching staff at North Texas and the area,” Dean said. “My family is from there. I have uncles and aunts who live in Forth Worth and I have a cousin who lives off of 820, about 15 minutes away. I am interested in playing close to them.” Dean was the District 10-2A MVP and helped lead Newton to the state semifinals. He visited Utah and quickly committed to the school before having second thoughts. He decommitted recently.
