Former South Torrance softball star Paige Kisling is returning to Southern California.
Kisling confirmed that she is transferring to Cal State Fullerton after one season at North Texas University and will compete to be an outfielder.
"North Texas was a great experience and everything, but it was not a good fit for me. I realized I was a Cali girl at heart," Kisling said.
"I want to play where it's most competitive, and I know the girls and the coaches at Fullerton and I know the program is heading in the right direction."
A factor in Kisling's decision might have been the revamped Fullerton coaching staff.
Kisling, a former Lakewood Firecrackers Gold travel ball player, will be reunited with her travel ball coach Jorge Araujo, who is now a Fullerton assistant coach.
"He's the new assistant coach and I know he is an absolutely amazing coach with great philosophies and fundamentals," Kisling said.
Kisling started in 51 of 53 games in the outfield for North Texas and had three triples and 23 runs scored.
"I'm excited to be a Titan," Kisling said. "I know I'm going to have to earn my spot, but I want to try to help the team out as best as I can and make an impact."
