I decided to put this here since it really isn't Mean Green Basketball related, but I thought it was interesting how the Big XII, who used to be a dominate football conference, is actually becoming a basketball conference. I realize this has been coming on for some time now, but yesterday's dismantling if the SEC was a big deal for Big XII basketball and future recruiting...much like the SEC's football dominance of late. The Big XII won seven of the ten match ups I believe.
The Big XII managed Oklahoma over LSU 77-75 , Oklahoma State over Auburn 74-63, Kansas over Kentucky 90-84, Baylor over Georgia 83-70, TCU over Tennessee 75-63, Texas over Vanderbilt 72-58 and Kansas State over Mississippi 69-64.
The SEC managed Texas A&M over Iowa State 72-62, Florida over West Virginia 88-71 and Arjansas over Texas Tech 75-68 in OT.
Now that is one conference to talking dominating the other! Hard for me to see the Big XII as a dominate basketball power conference, but in terms of this plastering of the SEC I guess I will have to begin believing. I realize many of these Big XII schools have storied basketball histories, but I have just always seen the Big XII as a football conference. I wonder if the SEC will want to try this challenge again in coming seasons? I am pretty sure the Big XII would be up for another go.
