quarterly meeting, stadium fund, future schedules?
greenjoe replied to LoveMG's topic in Mean Green Football
I wish we had the quaterly meetings that were mentioned. I think this would be an excellent opportunity to discuss various things Green. However, I get tired of people telling me that they don't buy tickets or otherwise support the University because they don't "receive anything from the University." I don't see this as the responsibility of the athletic dept. Sure, they should mail out season ticket renewal forms and keep season ticket holders aware of changes to schedule or times, etc. But when the Rolling Stones come to Dallas, does anyone expect to get a call from the concert promoters asking them to buy tickets ? You know there's going to be a football season in the fall. Call the Athletic Dept. and buy your season tickets. It's OUR school. Pick up the phone and make the call and quit making lame excuses as to why you haven't bought season tickets. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN -

Welcome to the board Blackbird. Take care of our guy Patrick. He was a fine citizen here in Denton. He'll make you proud in Mass. if he's given a chance. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN -

Golf Supplies needed

Very interesting EulessEagle. Now consider this. I was parked on the side of the street near the old NT golf course. I went there to let my young (then) sons look at the ducks. We could see that a twosome was about to tee off and took cover behind my Surburban. You know the rest of the story. The first golfer went off without incident. The second hit my truck. The guy that hit me wanted to pay for the damage done by his ball. His partner nearly lost his mind and refused to let the other man even exchange information with me. It got crazy, and I took my young sons and left the scene. But I've always wondered, who was responsible. I knew there was a risk (demonstrated by my hiding behind my truck), but I did nothing to cause the ball to hit my vehicle. You make the call. Who'd be your #1 to play from each conference ?
greenjoe replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, among those that didn't bash the Sun Belt, North Texas seemed to be the choice. Good to know that at least a few people have been paying attention to the Mean Green. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN -
Preserve Denton -Vote and Safe Fry St.
greenjoe replied to MeanGreenNation's topic in Mean Green Football
It's the "upscale" folks we need. Right or wrong, poor people don't put banners in the stadium, don't buy blocks of seats, and don't spring for naming rights to a new stadium. I know many of the merchants in the Fry St. area. They're all nice people, but most don't support NT athletics. The Starbuck's and Friday's of the world don't care about NT athletics either, but they will pay money to the athletic dept. to appear as if they care. Using the names Stan R pulled out of his hat, who's going to support NT Athletics better: Starbuck's, Friday's, Barnes & Noble's, and Kinko's or most anyone presently on the Fry St. area ? Of course there are some, but I don't see the Fry St. folks as being concerned with balls of various shapes. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

My son worked for him as an intern last summer in DC. He's got a NT football jersey in his office with the number 26 (his Congressional District) and it's the first thing a visitor sees when entering the office. I didn't know about the Prius but it makes sense knowing him. He usually holds at least one tail gate party during football season. Stop by. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

In years past, I've purchased road game tickets in the same package as my season tickets. I see no provision to buy out of town tickets with this mailing. Does anyone know how or when road game tickets will be available ? Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

Sturns was a very good player, but he seemed out of control most of the time. He scared me every time he touched the ball. -

I had lunch at El Guapo's Thursday. As is the custom there, Mike ( El Guapo) had the "Lunch Lottery" where the winning table is awarded with their lunch tab picked by El Guapo. But he also had a trivia question for an order of "fried ice cream." I had never had fried ice cream and sorta wondered how such a thing could exist. Anyway, the question was "what year was 'cinco de Mayo'?" No one knew. So I answered, "every year has a 5th of May." That wasn't the answer Mike was looking for, but he came through with the fried ice cream. Best thing I ever tasted. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

I'm not much of a pro football fan, but I'm a big Nick Baz fan. I hope he hooks up with a pro team, does well, and remembers NT with fond memories. Good Luck Nick Join the Mean Green club Buy season tickets GO MEAN GREEN

I'm going to call the Chamber of Commerce right now and get them going on a promotion. Because we might not get great press after the Texas game, it's important we sell out the game before Sept. 2 (the date of the Texas game the week before). Therefore, I'm calling on all my NT friends to buy season tickets when the mailer goes out and plan to be there. It doesn't matter that there might be a conflict that you don't even know about now-BUY SEASON TICKETS. This is the easiest and most sure way to have a sell out when SMWho comes to town. Maybe so. But I looked it up on WorldStadiums and it looked pretty good to me. 80,601 capacity. I'd trade Fouts for it anytime.
