When/if a new conference comes callling, think about what they will look at. Facilities, location, student population. Lots of things. What can we, as fans do to help ? Build a new stadium ? Change our location ? Drag more high school students to our campus ? Probably not. I can't write a check to fund the new stadium. I liek where NT is located. I'm not likely to go to "college night" at area high schools. I choose to help by joining the Mean Green Club and buying season tickets. I would like to think that conferences look at those kind of things. How many people are in the Mean Green Club ? How many season tix do you sell ? I have read on the board lately the reasons some give for not joining the Mean Green Club and for not buying Season Tickets. Please list those reason and perhaps some of us will be convinced to also not support our University. I would set up a poll, but I'm not computer savey.

Anyone can and should join. I hate the notion of withholding your financial support until, in this case, the Athletic Dept., measures up to some standard. Am I happy with the state of NT football ? Of course not. But what would happen to the Athletic program if every Mean Green member took Travis' stance ? We would need to shut down tomorrow. The only way we are going to get out of this situation is to work together. Rick is not happy with the results on the field. He's a very samrt guy. We don't need to "send him a message." Withholding much needed money would be like not feeding your kids because they stayed out too late or didn't pick up their room. If we do get to hire another coach, will he be more impressed with how many Mean Green members we have, or how many guys will fork over their money when we do this or that. If you expect every thing or everyone to please you, you should not be a Mean Green fan. Support the program because you want it to succeed, not as a reward. Most of us are not able to coach football. Most can't stripe the field or clean up after a game. What we CAN do is pay the freight for those that can do these jobs. I try to end all my posts the same way becasue I believe in the Mean Green. Not Darrell Dickey. Not even Rick. I was here long before they got here. I'll be here long after they've gone. Sometime during the 4th quarter, my wife gave me that look. I told her I'd love to leave, but morally I felt I had to stay. I did and saw another Middle Tennessee touchdown. While I'm not sure this is the best location for a North Texas Sports Bar, there's a spot up the street from me that is ready to go. The guy started from scratch and did everything right. Everything that is except get a final inspection. He opened anyway, and the City of Denton slammed him shut. He got mad (as you would expect) and didn't re-open. I'm inclined to agree with you John Denver, however, doesn't a loss to Sam Houston (by SMU) make our win over SMU less significant ? I think I'd like to be the team that beat the team that beat TCU or Southern Miss. By the way, I would like to make the game next year at Ford Field another home game for North Texas. A huge attendance by NT would do 2 things. First, it would help the Mean Green with a home team feel and secondly, it would demonstrate just how important a NT/SMU/TCU yearly series could be.
