  1. Is there a CUSA team getting any votes for the top 25 ?
  2. I think you guys have hurt "ASUHATESME" 's feelings. He's gone. One win in forever against North Texas and now this. It's certainly no way to treat a guest. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN
  3. El Guapo (the man, not the restaurant) has been a frequent poster here on GOMEANGREEN.COM. I appreciate what he (the restaurant) does for North Texas. El Guapo's is just a block or so south of the historic Denton Square. Also near the Square, Sweetwater, site of the Coach's show Monday nights, and Burgundy's, more upscale dining, next to the Campus Theater one block West of the Square.
  4. Hopefully, soon, it will suggest more than a touch of violence.
  5. South Florida is my new "favorite" team. They have done the impossible in, what, 10 years ? They are the model that NT should use. A school can achieve remarkable success in a short time with the proper commitment. I bet nobody calls them a "directional" school. Go Bulls GO MEAN GREEN BEAT TROY Let our rise to the top 25 in the nation begin now.
  6. Here's another photo of Mean Joe
  7. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I always thought Iseed was from Iran. And that was before I knew or cared where Iran was.
  8. On Sunday morning, go to "Cisco's Bakery" on 6th street on the EAST side of the Interstate. an old time Mexican bakery. all the old state movers and shakers used to have breakfast there. LBJ, John Conley, Bob Bullock. Those type of Texans. Be sure to ask to "sit in the back." And while you're in the neighborhood, go North a little to East 4th or 3rd, and visit the State Cenmtary. It's beautiful. And all the guys that used to eat at Cisco's, are now at the State Cemetary. Tom Landry is buried there as well. And there's a monument to those that died at 9-11 made from steel and concrete salvaged form the twin towers.
  9. Iseed was a Hayden Fry find. As Iseed tells the story, Coach Fry heard about this foreign born student that could really kick a soccer ball. Fry went to see for himself, and asked Iseed if he (Iseed) thought he could kick a football. It was the first football Iseed had ever seen. And yes, thank you, he could kick it. And the rest is history. Iseed also tells of spliting time between the Soccer team and the Football team. And of needing to travel by airplane to make the two schedules work. He was often in an airport with either a soccer uniform or a Mean Green (when the green was the correct color) football uniform on as he boarded the airplane. I see him frequently on Tuesdays. Great assett to Denton and of North Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  10. So the old "CUSA is better that the SUN BELT" thing really doesn't hold water. At least if we look at head to head competition. We should have beaten SMU. GO SUN BELT GO MEAN GREEN
  11. Can someone post the head to head results between the Sunbelt and the mighty CUSA. We were talking about this at the Coach's show Monday night. I think it's either 3-4 in favor of CUSA or 4-4. Are there any more games left to be played between these 2 conferences, before the New Orleans Bowl ? GO SUN BELT GO MEAN GREEN
  12. Who was the lady that knew the trivia question answer (Phillip Graves). I was only a little embarassed that all us "Mean Green Experts" guessed Brandon Kennedy.
  13. There. There. Right there. I heard it again this morning driving to work. The morning crew with KLUV were talking about the game Saturday night. They seemed to have a good time and made the tail gate as well as the game. They got the name of the University right as well as the nickname. Good publicity. BTW, has anyone heard the as that Georgio and Craig Miller do for "All - Pro Foundations" ? Craig Miller actually speaks well of NT and of the folks at All-Pro. I know it's paid, but still nice to hear something nice from a frequent detractor (though an alum) of North Texas. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN
  14. I felt like I had to be at a county picnic early yesterday. I didn't get to Fouts until 13:06 left in the third quarter. As my wife and I rushed in, I handed the "event staff" guy our tickets. He just said, "Go on in" and didn't scan the tickets. So how many people really passed though the turnstiles ? Do the "yellow shirts" stop counting at halftime ? By the way, without me there, NT scored 21 unanswered points. As soon as I got into the stadium, Monroe scored. Maybe I should stay on the parking lot ? Great win. Onward to Troy. GO MEAN GREEN
  15. How does one get turned down trying to join the Talons ? Turned down for a job. Turned down for a date I can understand. But how is one turned down trying to join a spirit group at a public university ?
  16. Appology accepted. However, it's not "meenjoe" nor is it " meanjoe", it's "GREENJOE." Like the former All American, Joe Greene, only backwards. Get it ?
  17. I just read on Yahoo that Norte Dame legend George Gipp's body was exhumed for DNA testing October 6. According to the article, no reason was disclosed for the testing and Gipp's body was returned to the cemetary and reburied the same day. Cue Fighting Irish fight song.
  18. I was driving to work this morning (Th) and heard that KLUV radio is doing one of their "girls night out" promos to the NT- La-Monroe game Saturday. Didn't hear how the winner is chosen, but the winner goes to the Mean Green Village tailgate before the game and then goes to watch the Mean Green notch their first win under Coach Dodge. So if you see some women with KLUV garb and hopefully some GREEN on, be nice to them. Buy them a funnel cake or that good pop corn. And could someone make sure the women's restroom is clean ? BTW, Jody Dean, the headliner of the KLUV morning show, seemed to know la lot about Denton. He was talking about Rudy's and some place else, and knew that Louisiana-Monroe used to be known as Northeast Louisiana. 19. I'm glad the show is now at Sweetwater. Would I be out of line to take a Mean Green cap next week and offer it to the waiter that wears the Texas Longhorns cap ? At least he could wear it during the show ?
  20. Try to get a Mustang, a Longhorn or a stupid Covered Wagon to do that !
  21. Is average student #17 going to have more respect for Alabama-Birmingham, South Floirda, and Tulane than Louisana-Monroe, Florida Atlantic, and Troy ? Not to disagree, but for many people, being a football fan means knowing who the quaterback for the Cowboys is. It's very likely that the Sun Belt will have a winning record against C USA this season. But for many, the preception won't change. for now, build up the Sun Belt, our conference home Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN-BEAT ARKANSAS
  22. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORTH ( I don't know how to do all the cool graphics )
  23. I've got a question for somebody out there. How is it decided what "big name school" will come to Fouts ? When the deal was made to play Alabama, for example, did Rick or whoever say, "do you want to play at our place, or yours ?" Has Texas or A & M ever been asked to play at Fouts ? I'm not talking about Texas Stadium, but here on campus. I always get a kick out of my non-Mean Green fan friends when I tell them "We play Oklahoma (or whoever) this week. And they say, "Is the game here ?"
  24. I just found out. Thanks SUMG. When will Abner be inducted ? I've never been to the Texas HOF and this sounds like a good time and reason for me to go. Congratulations Abner. Long overdue. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN GO ABNER HAYNES
