  1. It means North Texas wasn't a military school. Not a Nursing school or Engineering school. We were a Normal College. And I'd like to point out, North Texas hasn't been normal in years. GO MEAN GREEN
  2. And I hope North Texas leaves the field immediately after the win. Celebrate in the locker room. GO MEAN GREEN
  3. 824 W. University. As SUMG said, right behind the original Grandy's on University Drive. On the west end of the east most building (whew) And by the way, the Walgreen's on University Drive also has some North Texas T-shirts and hooded sweat shirts. And six fewer NT mini helmets.
  4. Has that un named quaterback/ offensive offensive coordinator been sighted anywhere ?
  5. This is the problem with eagle as a mascot. Everybody is an eagle (note the lower case "e"). There's only one Mean Green. Headline in Miami Herald Sunday sports section: JaMario Thomas sets all time Orange Bowl rushing record as historic stadium closes. GO MEAN GREEN
  6. "And we got to keep all the Cracker Jack."
  7. I'm going to a Christmas party thursday night ( I know, it's a little early) . The people at the pjarty were concerned that the Dallas Cowboy game would prevent people from coming to the party. I told them I had never heard of the Dallas Cowboys. Only of North Texas, where all these party goers attended. They're all getting mini helmets from Walgreens. $19.95 ea, it's the best price around. GO MEAN GREEN
  8. Now go and set the all time record for yards by a running back at the Orange Bowl's last game. Cue the Super Mario theme. Thanks JaMario. GO MEAN GREEN
  9. I just read on the FIU board (Tuesday 12:45pm) that admission to the last football game to be played at the Orange Bowl was free ! They think the free admission with the huge crowd that will bring will pave the way for a victory over North Texas. I guess they know what their football program is worth. GO MEAN GREEN
  10. I went in to Walgreen's earlier this week. They were stocking mini helmets from Texas, SMU, Baylor, and the Dallas Cowboys. $19.95 each. So I asked the clerk where the North Texas helmets were. She said she wasn't aware of any NT helmets. I went back the next day (to pick yup my pictures, you see ) and there they were. Lots and lots of white North Texas mini helmets. At $19.99 ea. I can't speak for any other Walgreen's, but this one is at the corner of University Drive at N. Elm street. You know, just up the block from Denton Bicycle Center. See you Staurday. GO MEAN GREEN
  11. Some of us were talking before the Coach's show Monday night. I thought it would be fun to have Hayden Fry as the Homecoming Grand Marshall, special honoree at the game, and use the old color lime green jerseys for the game. "What about the cost ?" And we talked some more. "We could auction off the jerseys after the game." We would take bids on each jersey and after the game, the winning bidder would receive the jersey he "won." This would cover the cost. Some jerseys would get a higher bid than others and should balance out those that don't get sold (although, I would think most parents, grandparents, girl friend, etc wuld buy a jersey). Good idea ? And again, if you don't like the lime jersey, you shouldn't have even gotten this far. GO MEAN GREEN
  12. Sure. Next thing you're going to tell me is that La. Monroe can beat Alabama.
  13. That and when all our fans know our head coach's name. GO MEAN GREEN
  14. Remember when Kansas State was a permanent resident of the ESPN Bottom Ten ? Remember what team they beat to begin their rise to national prominence ?
  15. I sure wanted to beat those guys, but I was proud to have them at Fouts. The NT band has the best version of the National Anthem, barr none. I hope we can play them again and soon.
  16. I didn't see in the prior posts. The article WAS on the front page of the Record-Chronicle. GO MEAN GREEN BEAT NAVY
  17. He never did hold. I think that was Danny White !
  18. I just got a nice thank you note via e-mail from the Athletic Department for going to the Middle Tennessee game. I buy season tickets, but I wonder how they know I was actually there ? The note also invited me to use my Navy ticket stub later that evening to get into the NT- Cameron Basketball game at no additional charge. What a good idea. Mean Green balls of two different shapes. By the way, the note mentioned that Navy tickets were still available at both the $15 and the $25 prices. Join the Mean Green Club (anyone can support the team when we're winning) Buy Season Tickets ( because we need you now more than ever) GO MEAN GREEN BEAT NAVY (that sounds so Notre Dame-ish)

    Wow

"All hands on deck." (cue sound of tweety whistle "treeeeeeeeet Tweeeeeeet."
  20. If you include the "waiting list," the Sun Belt and Conference USA both have 3 members listed.
  21. What a relief. When I read this topic's title, I thought this was going to be a really hard fought game. 25,000 injuries ??
  22. I sit on the alumni side. Lower section E, row 17. The people around me cheer, yell, boo a preceived bad call, and contribute to the "North" "Texas" cheer. I didn't hear anyone yelling at NT players or coaches. We stand on third downs and on fourth downs when the opposing team goes for it. It seems pretty thick around me. I don't know where the problem "alums" sit, but it's not near where I sit. I wa really impressed with the Middle Tennessee "pooch" punt. I don't know how that is to be defended. I've never seen that before and Middle ran it to perfection. Try to field the bouncing ball, you risk touching it and causing a turnover. Stay away, and the ball gets downed on the 1 yard line. GO MEAN GREEN BEAT NAVY (gosh, that sounds so big time )
  23. Talon, call them anything you wish. But don't get upset when our friends at SMU refer to us as North Texas State. I too really have strong feelings about Louisiana Monroe, formerly Northeast Louisiana. I remember them from the old Southland and Big West days. Do you remember the televised game from Monroe that determined the Southland Conference champ (us). The winner of that game (us) went to the first round of the D-1 AA game against the Wolfpack at Reno. There, we played in what I think was the first "overtime" game in NCAA history. Freezing cold and wet. Great fun. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN
  24. Who here is old enough to remember "the Dollies ?" They were a Hayden Fry inovation. And a very good one as I recall. Also, former director of bands, Dr. Winslow, who came here from USC, created the "North Texas Song Leaders." A blatant rip off of the "Song Girls."
