Ulm Ad Says "no" To Scheduling La. Tech In Any Sport
greenjoe replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I have instructed my wife not to do any more shopping in Ruston. I'm impressed with the position of Louisiana-Monroe. They've always been one of my favorite teams to beat, but on this, I'm all for them. Go Warhawks (except Oct. 18) Go Sun Belt GO MEAN GREEN -
Was Casey flagged for his dive into the end zone ?

Origins Of The "mean" Green Defense....
greenjoe replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
this should be required reading for incoming freshmen. And the SID needs to get the story out to every sports nook and cranny. And how about pinning this here at GMG so we can send people interested to read the real beginning of Mean Green ? And, the full story needs to be printed in every issue of the North Texas game day program. -
Interesting Season Ticket Sales Effort
greenjoe replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
They run an ad at the bottom of the Record-Chronicle most days. But it's one of those "hiding in plain sight" things. I hate bringing up "old days" things, but a former coach loaded up his players and drove them around town handing out posters asking people to come to the games. The players wore their game jerseys and must have made an impact. There was a "tote board" of givers in the lobby of the old First State Bank keeping count of the top givers. They were called the Mean Green 100 and each had to give $1,000 to Athletics. The '100 got a green blazer to wear at the games and other NT events. You knew these were the people that made the program tick. I wasn't a '100 member, but I knew who those guys were. Very impressive. -
Boise's satdium looks a lot like Kyle Field. Even down to the postage stamp size seating area for the visitors. Add about 20,000 to each end zone, and you'd think you were in College Station.

Single game tickets are available now to season ticket holders. I got an e-mail and a letter from the Athletic Dept.

I'll never forget that game in 2006, when the mavericks won on a non-shot as time ran out. No review, because we didn't have a replay monitor. It should have never come to that. We should never have let them get back in that game. That's the game Kendrick Davis cut his hand or wrist severly hitting a glass windowed door in his frustration. In '88, if we had won only one more Southwest Conference game, I think we would have gone to the Cotton Bowl. GO MEAN GREEN

Board Statistcs (and A Stadium Funding Idea)
greenjoe replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
I see my donation to the "stadium fund" as separate from my Mean Green Club donation. I expect the Athletic Dept to use my MG Club money for scholarships and uniforms and stamps etc. I want my "stadium fund" money to be used for just that-the Stadium. And maybe, if the right person in the Department sees this hopefully growing chunck of money, perhaps said person would do something to get this project moving. While I like the idea of putting the funds in an interest bearing account, I would like to get some kind of charitable gift perk from giving money to the University. Let the University put the money in an interest bearing account. By the way, this project needs some interest. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN -

On behalf of the Mean Green Nation, I'd like to say thank you to DallasGreen and UNT Campbell. This is the kind of leadership we need. Thanks for doing what many of us are only talking about. And doing it above your signature. On a check. GO MEAN GREEN -
How does a macho guy like SUMG end up in Bed, Bath, and Beyond in the first place ? And is a Mean Green beer glass bed, bath, or beyond ?

I like it. I'm certainly not flush with money, but I subscribe to the "put your money where your mouth is" theory. I'll make the $750 donation to be used for "Stadium Construction" and have a notation that this is a GOMEANGREEN inspired donation. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN -
I never thought I'd see that on GMG.

I'd really like to play Tulsa on a regular basis. They are within reasonable driving distance and Tul;sa is an area we don't seem to hear from so much. I hope they will bring a good crowd. And by the way, I have never heard the word 'rat" associated with the Radison Hotel in any way. I've hosted numbers of events there and have attended many more. While my need to stay there didn't come up very often, I've never heard that comment from anyone. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN Beat Tulsa

Tulsa World - Cusa Rumored To Lose Ecu, Memphis

61- You, if you could choose, would drop SMU, Rice, and Tulane for ULL, Arkansas State, and NMSU ? More travel and less sizzle. -
Sounds like a fun gimmick. But here's how we build a new stadium... Donate money to the North Texas Athletic program. Earmark it for "stadium construction" if you wish, but give money to NT Athletics. We seem to spend a lot of time waiting for someone else to do the lifting for us. If it's to be OUR stadium, then WE need to step up and pay for it. There is no tooth fairy, and there's no santa claus (note the lower case). Write a check. Find a giving level and give some money to your Athletic Department. If you're already a giver, try to increase your level of giving. Let's stop looking for mr. big bucks. He's not out there. If it's to be, it's up to you and me. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

I agree with P1. I'd rather not have a student vote on a student fee. The thought of some students and how ever many professors protesting a stadium fee would surly make the front page and might make the evening news. And how would that look ? If WE want a new stadium, then WE need to fund it. Few things worthwhile are free. The good stuff always costs more. We should raise ticket prices and raise advertising rates and insist that people commit to giving levels for any ticket purchase. And if the students want to help build a stadium, give them a way to contribute.

I agree with DAWG. Anything short of a new stadium is unacceptable on a number of levels. My idea, once, was to remove one side or the other of Fouts and rebuild it close to the field during the off season. Pull the aluminum bleachers in close to the end zones and the following off season, demolish the other side stands and rebuild. A new stadium, an excellent location, and no interruption of play. But the new stadium idea is better. And hooking up with a hotel makes the new stadium idea unique. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN
