Board To Consider Extension For Jones
greenjoe replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I really like Johnny Jones. He's done well hee and I hope he stays and continues to win. But I've always had a problem with the fact that the contract is binding on the school and not on the coach. If LSU came calling after next season, he's gone. If he stays and loses, we have to keep him and pay. Or fire him and pay (see Darrell Dickey). If he chooses to move on, he's free to go. It just doesn't seem like the school is protected by the contract. Did I mention I like Johnny Jones ? -
Patrick Cobbs Beating Out Ronnie Brown?

Are you the guy that lives in that green house on 32nd and vine ? -
I hate to have a bunch of talented quaterbacks on the bench. I'd like to see Riley redshirt this year, and understudy for Vizza his RS frosh and soph years. Then, have Riley take over his Jr. and Sr. year and win the National Championship.

Last year when Louisiana Monroe defeated Alabama, they immediately came up with a billboard commending the win. If we beat Kansas State or LSU what would our billboard say ?

Sun Belt Conference’s Freshman Of The Year

On the bright side, printing your own money sure streches that athletic budget. A new stadium would be a snap with a Xerox machine and a bunch of paper -

North Texas had a women's basketball program in the 30's ?Please provide photos, stats, roster, anything. I'm not doubting anyone, but I never heard of women's basketball here until Judy Buckles started coaching. -

I thought it interesting the Jim Harbaugh was at #9. Harbaugh was one of the finalists for the job Todd Dodge got. Join the Mean Green Club Donate money to make the new Stadium reality Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN

I like Howard. He's done everything he has said he would do. The entire program is, what, 6 or 7 years old, and he's already gone to, and won a bowl game. And, we haven't beaten them yet. I've always been a UT fan, but a Florida Atlantic upset would be great for the conference and for college football. GO MEAN GREEN

Unt Sports Psychologist Working With Olympians
greenjoe replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Athletics
"Yes, this is GreenJoe. I'd like to know if the Mean Green uses a sports psycholgist ? " "I beg your pardon " "I want to know if North Texas athletes use a sports psychologist " " Do you think they need to see a psychologist ?" "No no. I don't mean that. I was also wondering why the sports psychologist had her picture taken in front of the Environmental Science Buildong ?" "You mean instead of Men's Gym or the PEB ?" " Well, yeah. But we're getting off the subject. When does the football team meet with the psychologist ? Did she work with them last season when we went 2-10 ?" "Hey...That wasn't our fault. We had a new coach, a high school defensive coordinator, and a 60 year old stadium to play in." That's why I don't call. -
Unt Sports Psychologist Working With Olympians
greenjoe replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Athletics
OK OK Nice building. But why wouldn't she be standing in front of the Rec Building, or the P.E. Building. Or laying on a couch in front of the Super Pit. And I still want to know-Does she work with U of North Texas athletes ? -
I'm not a fan of rap. But I watched the video and this guy touched all the bases as far as foul language is concerned. The background didn't look like a dorm room to me. It had logos from Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Others as well made it look like a sports bar. Or maybe a sports church. Anyway, if he was enrolled at OU this summer, doesn't he have to sit out a year before being able to play for another Division 1-A team ? A very expensive rap video.

Out Of State Colleges On Texas License Plates?
greenjoe replied to LongJim's topic in Mean Green Football
It seems to me that North Texas has the most "presence" of any Texas university plate. Baylor, SMU, aTm, are good also. But no other have the amount of color and detail the NT plate has. Plus it says "North Texas" and "Mean Green." -
While Cruising The K-state Board, Found A Funny Thread

Other than playing there, what would suggest any ties K State has to DD ? Not to his dad, but to DD ? They certainly didn't offer him when he was fired from NT. GO MEAN GREEN -

I read this and I wondered if she also worked with North Texas athletes as well ? And why was the picture taken in front of the Environmental Science Building ? -

Rv Talked To Us At Ra Traning Today
greenjoe replied to bstnsportsfan3's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. there's a new bank in town that broke ground last week. In this economy. Has everyone on the board made their own contribution to the new stadium ? I don't see how we can ask others to fund our stadium if we don't help ourselves. GO MEAN GREEN -
According to the Sporting News "Football.com" La Tech has a 5'10" 161 lb. defensive back named Evyn Roman. If true, he would have to sit out this season. Does anyone else know anything about this ? GO MEAN GREEN

GREENMINER hit it right on the head. "Do we have the money ?" Well, probably not. Not right now. So I'm asking everyone to make a stadium contribution. Not instead of your Mean Green Club committment. In Addition to your Mean Green Committment. After all, who benefits from a new stadium ? We do. Who's team will play in the new stadium ? North Texas. And who is North Texas ? We are. Simple. Quit waiting for Prince Charming to come riding up. He's not coming. It's up to us, the most ardent of Mean Green Fans. Send enough to show you want a new stadium now. The prople in Athletics will have to deal with all this money and all these supporters demanding a new stadium And it will happen. And we'll be the reason. GO MEAN GREEN

Make it happen. Send the Athletic Dept money earmarked for "Stadium Constructioin." Somebody will finally say, "What's this money in this account for ? We've got to get something started." GO MEAN GREEN

I don't know how to spell soccer, but after reading this post, I looked up Janaye Woods. Seems she had an eye injury her junior year of HS. The injury was so severe, she was almost forced to give up soccer. She wore protective goggles when she played. Perhaps she was forced to give up soccer after all. For whatever the reason, her loss looks like a blow to NT Soccer. GO MEAN GREEN

I think car pooling is the answer. If we were to recruit more guys with big cars, we could save a bunch on travel. Also, we should schedule games in cities where some of the players have a grandmother or aunt. This way, the jplayers could stay with "granny" and expect a good, home-cooked breakfast in the morning. Perhaps take out the trash or trim some trees while they're there to defray the cost for the chicken and dumplins. Here's the best part. With Aunt Fern having already met some of the players, she's for sure going to go to the game. And maybe even bring her bridge group. Then, after the game, back in the big guys big car. Plenty of time to stop by the Dairy Queen for a DQ Dude and a sundae. No more airport hassles, no more mixed up hotel reservations, and no more wondering if our boys are back home in bed at a decent hour.

This Week's Article: "the Ice Bowl"
greenjoe replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
My favorite Jordan Case story. Jordan Case played with wild abandon. He also was hurt a lot, although he was ready to play on Saturday afternoon. A reporter from the D R-C noticed he was limping and asked him about it. Jordan replied, "I think that's just how I walk now." When NT and SMU played at Texas Stadium back in whenever, Jordan and the SMU QB (named Ford) were hyped and were to have a real shoot out. Ford got hurt or something, and Jordan went to the photo session at Texas Stadium alone. I recall great photos of Jordan sitting atop the goal post alone and another of him twirling a football basketball style on his index finger. Join the Mean Green Club Buy Season Tickets GO MEAN GREEN
