I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't go to bars on Fry Street and I'm not a Longhorn fan. But the web site says, "Watch your favorite team." Well, my favorite team is the Mean Green. It seems to me that the photo was simply showing some fans an another Public House watching their favorite teams. I would hope that the owners will cater to the customers they are counting on to keep them in business. All dollars are green. But I think this shows that we have a lot of work to do. Wear Mean Green clothing items. What color you wear does matter. Demand that bars that show ballgames show Mean green games when we're on the road. And when NT is at home, we should be at Fouts Field anyway, so who cares what they're showing on the TV. GO MEAN GREN

The problem with a 1-AA opponent is that if you win, "well of course you won. They're 1-AA" And if you don't belive it, wait until SMU wins over Stephen F. Austin to open the season. But if you lose, "You guys got beat by a 1-AA team." And if you don't believe it, wait until SFA sweeps the stable with SMU.

I called them Monday. The mininum is $1,000. the term is for one year. The base interest rate is 1.98%, but with compound interest, will pay 2% over 12 months. The rate goes up appx .05% per regular game win and is adjusted December 7, 09. The rate can be further adjusted by .25% if NT wins the New Orleans Bowl. 12 wins equals appx .60%. In this mornings Denton Record-Chronicle, Bret Vito mentioned that Ann Clinkscales had left the dapartment. She was hired to head up fund raising and got here during football season I think. The article said she left for family reasons. That explaination always scares me. Ann wasn't here long, but she remembered my name and was always very nice to me. What's required for a red shirt ? Does a physician or trainer need to provide a certified statement as to the injury ? Is it possible that a school with less integrity than NT could falsify such a report in order to apply for a red shirt ?

A tradition I'd really like to see stop is the barriers some people put up to "prevent" them from supporting the Mean Green. "I'll start sending money when the AD starts doing this and that." "I'll buy season tickets when we get Kettle Korn." "I'll join the Mean Green Club when we get Vince Lombardi as head coach." "As long as such and such works for the Athletic Dept, they won't see one red cent from me." "I'll donate to the Stadium fund when I see dirt fly. If the design meets my personal specifications." Hopefully, they can put together a volunteer band and cheerleader squad. After all, the uniforms are already paid for (?) and many of the musicians from last season are still on campus. And I don't think there is a NCAA rule on how many years a trombone player can participate. This will be a good experiment to see how much spirit the band and cheerleaders really do have.
