I just find it unbeliveable that this thing is happening. i'm sure it's been mentioned, but during halftime Thursday night, Dr. B. was presented with a necklace with 16 stones in it-one for each of the 16 sports that North Texas fields. Very classy on Rick's part. G

I understand this award comes with $25,000 to be given to a charity of the winner's choice. I wish North Texas Athletics could be that choice. Especially since this si "found" money. GO MEAN GREEN

Last night, the KERA Texas Debate was heald at the Murchinson on the NT campus. It was wonderful. The place was packed. I have never seen as many television news trucks as I saw last night. Dr. Batile welcomed the crowd and I got to speak with her before the debate started. In her opening speech, she stated that North Texas was neither red or blue. North Texas was green. I was very proud. GO MEAN GREEN

My son graduated from A & M in 2006. I determined that anything that happens at A & M twice, they call it a tradition and name a building after it. Now make fun of them if you wish, but the football games are always sold out, people line up 3 and 4 deep to watch the Corp of Cadets march in, and there's a waiting list for a parking spot in the travel trailer/motor home parking lot. Crazy ? Yes. Loyal ? They're always there. who ever the coach is. GO MEAN GREEN

I thought this was cool. A leaf flutters down and down and settles on the green "S" of Michigan State. And the caption comes on and says, "We've always been green."

OK OK Help me with something Now I understand why cadets in the Air Force Color Guard are armed. They are in the "Armed Forces" of course. But why do the Green Brigade Flag Corp need to be armed ? I'm speaking of those white rifles they twirl when they're not using the flags. The rifles are real I presume. Because if they were not real, why would they be needed ? It's always seemed odd to me that a University that at one time thought the name "Scrappy" was too "war-like" would have a marching band with an armed flag corp.

I like the Cincinatti uniforms. I don't usually go for all thw stripes and trim, but I think these uniforms look cool. How did they lose to us and go on to be so good....and we win and get so bad ?

For all my life, I've been told that North Texas is a commutter school. So if that's true, and I don't think it is, commute your green self back the same distance you travel for your MWF school day. And what would NT fans do, by the way, if we were to be so lucky to be invited to say, the Hawaii Bowl ? "Hawaii's too far." "Hawaii is too hot." "I'm having my in-laws over that day." "I can't stand leis." It makes me wonder is North Texas is ready for prime time. Beat Kansas State GO MEAN GREEN

"....show up in 'groves' " ? Here are three reasons to come to the NT game November 27. 1) North Texas is playing a home game. 2) We're hosting a Big 12 opponent. ( I hear peole say they want us to play high profile opponents. The Big 12 conference is arguably as big as it gets.) 3) Everything that 99 % of us know about North Texas Football begins and ends with Fouts Field. Why wouldn't a Mean Green fan want to be a part of the end of that era ? GO MEAN GREEN

The development people had a CVS Pharmacy lined up. Area property owners claimed the drive-thru in the CVS Pharmacy would be dangerous and not mix well with the neighborhood. It seemed to me that a compromise would be a CVS without a drive-thru. But I guess that's out of the question. So now, we're going to see at least 210 residents of the apartment complex coming and going at all hours. More or less dangerous ? Better or worse mix with neighborhood ? As far as the commuter school image, these students will still be considered commuters. Are students commuting because there is no housing near the campus ? there are tons of apartments in Denton, although the better properties are not near the campus.

How bad was it ? My wife pointed out that FIU was killing us on rebounds. And I agree. Whenever the ball came off the backboard it seems to go to a gaggle of Golden Panthers.

Is CUSA or some other conference calling and RV is just not taking their call ? I think that evry day when Rick gets up, he is thinking about something to make NOrth Texas Athletics better. The notion that he is content about any aspect of our program is just wrong headed. And as far as the Sun Belt Conference, the SBC provided us with our only bowl bids (4 that is) since the 1950s. As far as I can see, the only other thing we caould do at this point is to become a D-1 Independent. Have zero bowl ties and have a difficult time with scheduling after the third or fourth week of the season. And one more thing....We're not very good in football right now. North Texas has a ton to offer, but football powers most athletic departments. Again, I don't think we're getting a lot of calls because of our football program. I hope that changes soon. Cheer for the Sun Belt. Hope they crush southern Mississippi. As the Sun Belt gets stronger, North Texas gets stronger. If we can keep up. Being number one in the Sun Belt may not impress you. But being last in the Sun Belt means the dapartment, coaches, and fans (this means season tickets and contributions to the Mean Green Club) have to get better. And the phone is still not ringing. OK....so if someone had a great deal on some retail space, and wanted to open a pure North Texas Spirit store in Denton, would it work ? And I mean gear like a real university has...T shirts and sweatshirts, and caps and jackets, and panchos, and and all NT branded. Would it work ? And when I say work, I mean pay the rent, light bill, and earn enough money to make it viable ?

You're kidding. These guys have one sweat shirt (and it's hooded. handy for robbing a 7-11). One men's polo. Two caps and a cap washer. There is almost no choice of NT gear anywhere. I can get a better TCU,, ARKANSAS or Texas A & M selection at Albertson's.

It was announced earlier this morning that North Texas had extended the contract with Solan Waterless Urinals. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal runs through the 2010 football season.

Why are we playing this team ? Why are we playing this team at noon on a weekday ? Do we expect any support (cheerleaders, dancers, band, university president, athletic director) people to be in attendance ? Is this a home and home ? Do we have to go to Hobbs, NM next year on a Wednesday noon ?

I'm sure there is a good explanation, but it seems odd the Dr. Batille would be "out of the country" at this crucial time. I assume this trip was planned months ago.

If we are hiring a new head coach, hire Fran. And then hope he is so successful that he gets hired away by a bigger program. And that he leaves a "patterson" here.

I thought the coach's show was BEFORE a game not AFTER.
