  1. I agree with Adler. Schedule teams at their place that will schedule us at our new stadium. We're not going to have that old, "nobody wants to play at Fouts" as an excuse anymore. GO MEAN GREEN
  2. Steve and Leslie Shwartz....You got a card. That is to say, I got your card. If you get my Publisher's Clearinghouse check, please foward. GO MEAN GREEN
  3. If they can't even go bowling this year, who needs them. We need to play teams like Houston and Tulsa that have a traveling fan base and teams that have a future. GO MEAN GREEN
  4. all my life, I've heard of how North Texas is a commuter school. how about some of you commuters, commute yourself back to the Coliseum Tuesday and lend some support for a 10-2 North Texas team. Merry Christmas GO MEAN GREEN
  5. Don't forget to send your gift this year to the Human Fund.
  6. I hadn't thought about it until reading here on GMG. I've concluded the LSU win is the most significant in program history. Thanks Mean Green. Thanks Johnny.
  7. We are the University of North Texas, UNT, or just NT. Our nickname is Mean Green, a name originally given to our stingy defense back in the 60s. Our mascot is an Eagle. Older supporters will urge our team on by saying, "Go Eagles." But most shout, "Go Mean Green," or "Go Green." Our University changed it's name 22 (?) years ago. People that still call us NTSU simply don't keep up with college sports very well. We look foward to your support when we play Alabama and Troy when we come to your part of the country. When your travels take you into the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, I hope you'll come 25 or 30 miles north to Denton and look at our beautiful campus of 35,000 and walk through our new stadium. As of right now, it is unnamed. We're all really proud and excited to open our 2011 home season in our new place with a win over the U of Houston. Welcome and GO MEAN GREEN
  8. Yeah...They're saying "NTU" is good but not as good as LSU made them (us) look. Blaming the coach, but they got beat by a good team. L S who ?
  9. There will be some that claim LSU over looked North Texas, or somebody was sick or tired, or ya ya ya. But the Mean Green drilled a top tier SEC team tonight. Won and LSU couldn't stay in the gym with North Texas. Come home safe and Merry christmas.
  10. I think it wuld be hard to put 2 North Texas running backs on the 10 year team, but it seems to me that de Mario Thomas should also be on that list. He didn't have the career that Patrick had, but he was National Rushing champion.
  11. Now I really like that idea. There are some really nice houses on Tremont which is a cul-de-sac off Highland Park. I have two friends that live there. and it's literally the closest neighborhood to the new stadium.
  12. Great idea. Do it after the teams warm up and before kickoff to avoid delay penalties. This would also "force" people to be in their seats prior to the Mean Green coming out of the tunnell.
  13. "DYou can't name yourself after a color and only use it as an accent color."

    I really like that. Joe

  14. Here's what you said. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see an All Black design as well, black out day, whole nine yards... I read that as all black. Perhaps I misread.
  15. If he's part of the community, he lives here. I hate to use this reference, but Coach Fry bought a house and lived here. He's the North Texas Gold Standard. I feel strongly that Coach Mac should live in Denton. So yes, it's an issue.
  16. This would be a great time to trot ouot that helmet idea you had a while back. Joe

  17. AAAGGGHHHH !!!! I thought we'd been through this. Repeat after me. "Glory to the Green. Glory to the White." period.
  18. I want to hear that he and his wife have purchased a house in Denton. If he is to be part of the community, he needs to live in the community. Then, I want to hear from him here on GMG.com.
  19. I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but I expect miracles. We've got the remains of a team that nearly beat Kansas State, an OC in Coach Canales that is about to explode, a veteran head coach that I am told is the highest paid in the Sun Belt with skins on the wll to prove he deserves all that he's been given. To say nothing of a brand new stadium. I expect to win. Soon.
  20. I would love to go 6-6 next year. That's quite a step, but I don't think it's unreasonable. Now, assuming we go 6-6, but don't win the Sun Belt, do we get a bowl invite ? Our attendance numbers should be up with the new stadium, our new Coach, and a team that outperformed it's self late in the season. We maight look good to a lower tier bowl. At least on paper.
  21. He wouldn't be the first to leave for the "big time" and come back to play closer to home.
  22. I have heard rumors of Guyer and Ryan high schools. But I'd like to remind everyone that the original home team, The Denton Broncos made a first round appearance in the play-offs after a lengthly absence. They were shown the door in the first round, but finally got some press in a town dominated by Ryan and Guyer football. Go Broncos
  23. I was going to guess Rick Shaw (perhaps the greatest sports name ever). He was a reserve QB here and I understand owns a restaurant in S.A.
