I've seen the BG wear T-shirts before, but this is the first time I recall them wearing GREEN shirts. Thanks.

whhile we were at the Alumni Center before thee game, we heard "Pat Boone" rehearsing. When he "sang" the National Anthem, it was the same recording. Did you notice the band was standing, holding their instruments. I'm assuming he recorded it with the Green Brigade earlier, or maybe it was patched into a GB recording, but it wasn't sung live last night. Many stadiums do this to avoid the 1 or 2 or 3 second delay confusing the persormer, to prevent any risk of forgetting the words, or to prrevent some nut from making a statement with our national Anthem. I think it's actually a good idea for the above reasons. You still hear who you are hearing, just not live. I'm going to the Pat Boone concert this afternoon. I hope there is a large croud there. I hope there's a large croud with anything NT does. GO MEAN GREEN

I know we're used to "in and out" at Fouts, but what do other "big program" stadiums do ? I've been to a lot of college stadiums but I'm not an "in and out" guy. Give me some specific examples.

Apogee holds just under 31,000. I was disappointed that we didn't have fans wall to wall but the place looked great. And of course I was pleased in the anount of GREEN in the stands. The students made the atmosphere. Thanks all of you. See you in 2 weeks agains Indiana. GO MEAN GREEN

I haad a great time. and my wife had a great time. The tailgating was incredible. We got there at 2:00 and had no trouble getting in. the area is so big and there were so many tents I had a hard time finding my group. As far as walking from Fouts, people kept coming and coming. Young men in green ties and shorts and ladies in shorts or skirts and cowboy boots. Very big college type. I loved our seats. I got a little bugged that we had to wait so long to get in the stadium. Great food and everybody was upbeat and ready for the new era of NT football we've heard about. Getting out was a breeze. We stayed for a while and visited with Mean Green friends. When we left, we were directed to go in front of Apogee and out the service road. Nuttin' to it. Great time. I can't wait to come back and win this time. And we're going to win some games. Thanks to everybody that made my first game at Apogee great. GO MEAN GREEN

I listen to KNTU to hear of things going on at my University. Silly me. I think I can tell the professional broadcasters on Channel 8 as opposed to the student broadcasters on KNTU. I know they'll be pros some day. But yes, I can tell the difference. All I want is some University of North Texas coverage. I don't think that's too much to expect. GO MEAN GREEN

First, congratulations to North Texas students and Mean Green fans everywhere for selling out Apogee Stadium. But they didn't hear about it from KNTU Radio. Listening on the way home tonight (F) I paid special attention to the KNTU sports report. I even took notes so I'd be accurate. The stories in order: 1. Ohio State gymnastics coach arrested 2. NFL Packers vs. Saints 3. Jets vs. Cowboys 4. Jason Garrett used to play for the Giants 5. Jay Ratliff got new contract 6. Serena Williams had a tantrum 7. Somebody shot a NBA Grizzlies guard 8. NASCAR Now I was told to wait until Friday and that there would be lots of coverage of the NT-Houston game and the opening of Apogee Stadium. Zip, nada, nuthin'. I know the "K" is a FCC assigned letter, but what in the world does "NTU" stand for ? 'Cause it certainly isn't North Texas. GO MEAN GREEN

Thank you North Texas students and Mean Green fans everywhere. GO MEAN GREEN

Dear Benny, Back in 1975 at Texas Stadium, you guys didn't even use the single digit side of your scoreboard. If you didn't use what was provided you then, why should we get excited about some boastful talk now ? GO MEAN GREEN

As I've mentioned before, I listen to KNTU news on the way home. Tonight (W) I was especially anxious to hear about the NT-Houston game during the sports segment. I heard about Rangers, Cowboys, Stars, and NASCAR. During the news, I heard about the wildfires in Texas, the Republican Presidential Debate, and that former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will be at NT tonight (I'm going). But nothing, nothing about what I consider the most important game in North Texas history. The opening of a $80 million stadium isn't big enough news to make it on the 5:30 KNTU news lineup. Does KNTU know the University of North Texas has a football team ?

Eric Capper Tweets on UNT Student Ticket Sales

Wouldn't it be ironic if we were critized for not building Apogee big enough ? GO MEAN GREEN -
A couple of years ago, RV stated that we could net as much playing at home with "X" number of paid attendance as playing a big money game on the road. I don't remember what that number was (15K ?)but I recall it not being too too high. Hopefully, with the increase of season ticket sales and a renewed support of our students, we can play at Apogee instead of traveling. Do I understand as of right now we only have 5 games scheduled for next year ? And speaking of money games, I'd like to see NT raise the fee for money games. $1 million guaranteed. Too high ? Find somebody else.

We, NT Athletics, has a legacy of "walk ups" and "I'm not going to buy season tickets." For decades, we, me too, have waited until the last minute to go to the games or come into the stadium. I haave arrived during the playing of our National Anthem many more times than I'd like to be reminded of. Those days are over. If you want tickets, plan ahead. Just like you'd plan ahead for any other event. We're the big time now. We've got to act like it. GO MEAN GREEN -
Remember these ? I used to see some that said "NORTH TEXAS" and some that said "MEAN GREEN" in rhinestones. Dr. Battile always wore one. Well now, I can't find them. I called the bookstore and Voertman's. No luck. Anybody got a source ?

It's GREEN. Finally, somebody's thinking.

That's it. I'm sold. I'd like to buy a GMG shirt. Where ? How much ?

Is there a Coach Mac show Monday night ? I know it's Labor Day, but I missed last week. Rudy's on I-35. And what time ? GO MEAN GREEN

I got to Apogee at about 5:50 anticipating a 6:00 kickoff. When the weather delay was announced, the "wing-tron" was blank for the most part. There were a few ESPN promos and at one point stadium announcer Tim Crouch spoke welcoming everyone to Apogee. I thought the PA was very distorted for the Tim Crouch announcements. As if the volume was turned up too high or through very cheap speakers. The ESPN broadcast was better but too loud. Again, as if forcing too much power through the speakers. As I walked in from the AC parking lot, I was impressed with how little sound came from BEHIND the wing-tron. All the sound came out to the north-where the fans are. The distortion concerns me. The play in the 3rd (I think) quarter. NT receiver was judged to be juggling the catch. Both feet got down in bounds but I thought it was a good catch. But my point is, why was that play not reviewed ? I'm a homer, so i thought it was good from the get go. But after watching the replay several times, I thought it was a catch. Whatever the call, trailing by 30+ points, what was the risk ?

50 Fun Facts About College Football Stadiums
greenjoe replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
A fun story. However, spelling still counts. Look at #46. The story about Notre Dame. "Thier" should have been spelled "there." -
I think it is interesting to note that Fred Thompson knows more about North Texas that even he might realize. He was in the Acadmey Award winning film Necessary Roughness filmed in Denton and North Texas. Thompson's career was stalled until he created the Emmy Award character that brought him international fame. GO MEAN GREEN

Season Tickets Have Arrived in My Mailbox
greenjoe replied to Green59's topic in Mean Green Football
If this has been mentioned before, please forgive me. I was surprised that my parking lot assignment included a specific parking space. I understood that I'd be given a lot and to find my space within that lot. A space that I can count on and nurture as it grows up is really more than I expected. I'll be taking pictures of my space and posting them here as soon as I can. I think I'll dress it up for it's first game. I'm just so proud. GO MEAN GREEN -
It's simple. If Houston supports their team better than we support ours, there will be more red than Green. Have you done what you can to make sure there's more Green than red ? GO MEAN GREEN
