  1. Dr. Seuss is correct. I'm not in a fraternity and I don't know what the frats do for the school. What do frats do for the University of North Texas ? Could then, one of the things frats do for the school, they come into the Stadium and be counted ? Their tickets are already apid for. The ony effort would be to pick up a ticket prior to game time and walk from the tailgate area into the game. This could be another thing frats do for the school. I really am not picking on fraternities, but it is they that put their greek letters up so that I can read them from Apogee. I assume they are displaying their letters because they are proud of what they are doing. They certainly wouldn't display their name if they were not proud. Right ? GO MEAN GREEN
  2. I think we travel fairly well. Especially when there's a bowl game to b played. I think many bowl sponsors would look at NT as a pretty good payday. Who was it that predicted North Texas and Southern Miss (I think) in a bowl game ? And what bowl game was it ? 6-6 ? Sounds good to me. GO MEAN GREEN found it. It was the BBVA COMPASS BOWL played at the Liberty Bowl in Birmingham, AL.
  3. Of course, I realize that the frats aren't the only ones that party whhile the game is going on. I simply don't see 8 foot tall letters saying, CHESS CLUB or HANGERS ON. The greek letters I see are as much as advertising that they don't/won't come into the Stadium. GO MEAN GREEN
  4. As I watched a great game last afternoon, I saw hundreds of people still tailgating and those that I saw were partying around big greek letters. The only ones I could make out were the Kappa Alpha "KA" letters, but there were at least one more I couldn't read. Why aren't these UNT Clubs going into the Stadium and supporting the team ? Students have already paid for their tickets, right ? Did these clubs have hundreds of alums that didn't have tickets ? If so, why not ? I know many things have been discussed in years past about getting tail gate groups into the Stadium. As my wife and i walked toward our seats at 3:30 (too late in my mind, but we saw the kickoff), we spoke of what might encourage these 'non-fans' into Apogee. How about a annoying bell and group of students walking around reminding people it's time to fold up the tent and head to the game. Could these greek clubs e contacted and asked to close down their party and go to the gme ? If asked, would they respond in the spirit the request was made ? I hope these non-participants will join us and help this team win this year. GO MEAN GREEN
  5. So who won ?
  6. The fans that ran onto the field were AT THE GAME. Unlike the hundreds that continued to tailgate and not even come to the game. I personally don't see the point to rush the field for a regular season game and don't see dumping Gatorade on Coach Mac. But wins haave been few and far between around here for some years. if they come and NT wins, let 'em rush the field. No harm. Great game tonight. GO MEAN GREEN
  7. I heard that rather than graduate, Keenum is going to retire.
  8. For a 6:00 kickoff, we've been getting to Apogee at about 2:00. With the new kickoff time, we'll get to Apogee at about 2:00 and tailgate less. No big deal one way or the other. Just win GO MEAN GREEN
  9. He called me collect.
  10. If North Texas is ever going to develop a "rival" CUSA offers a better opportunity. I also think CUSA teams are more familar to our fans, to say nothing of better travel. I understand that it's always better to travel east rather than west. MWC may or may offer better teams from a national standpoint, but those fans won't be as likely to travel to Apogee. 11. thanks. got it. 3-7 GO MEAN GREEN
  12. How can I watch the game on ESPN 3 ? Please provide a very simple explanation as I'm not so Internet savey. 3-0 GO MEAN GREEN
  13. Help me with this. It seems to me that if SMU goes to the Big East, a MWC/CUSA merger will leave both (or the new) conferences without a presence in the DFW market. Isn't that good for North Texas, assumming MWC/CUSA WANT a presence in DFW ? GO MEAN GREEN
  14. I think B is about right. Alabama was unwinable. FIU had the advantage of a in-place coaching staff and a solid group of players returning. Tulsa and Houston had more horses than we did. If A+ is the highest grade available, what grade would Coach MaC have gotten had NT defeated Alabama and/or Houston ? What I would give Coach McC an A on is his work away from the football field. He greets everyone with passion and excitement. That aspect of his personality gets him extra points in my book. Aside from his W/L record. Great job so far Coach MaC. I can't wait for what's to come. GO MEAN GREEN
  15. That worked well for a coach that lived in the North Texas area.
  16. Someone needs to do a "Hitler hears of the Wright Waters retirement."
  17. I've got a friend and he has 2 other friends, all NT alums, and they're all coming to the Homecoming game. Have some of you season ticket holders felt it was hard to bring someone to the game because the guests cannot sit with you ? I'd like my friend and his frineds to sit with me, but there's no way I can get 3 seats near me. Thanks Wright Waters Beat La La GO MEAN GREEN
  18. Big 13 1/2. I don't know who all the 13 teams are, but I suspect the 1/2 is us. And it will be us until we can prove that we're not 1/2. Winning would be a step in that direction. Great attendance, despite rain, wind, fire, snow, and other calamities. GO MEAN GREEN And remember Gregg Easterbrook's name. It might come in handy someday when we play for the National Championship.
  19. I know everyone has been dying to know what happened to my NT flag and flag pole. The North Texas Police called me aboout 4:00 this afternoon (Tu) and said they had my flag/pole. It seems it blew over in the wind early in the game and some Athletic staff people saw it laying in the parking lot. They thought it belonged to Athletics and picked it up and put it somewhere under the Stadium. The Police called around and I got it back. Thanks North Texas Police and Athletic Staff. And if my flag pole damaged Brad's car, I want to make that right. GO MEAN GREEN
  20. If we beat LaLa, then: We suddenly become revelant, at least within the Sun Belt Conference If we lose, then: It's business as usual. It will be almost impossible to look back at this season as anything more than giving Coach MaC his first year free. So win. And let's spend some time in New Orleans this December. GO MEAN GREEN
  21. Anybody can be white. Only the Mean Green can wear green. From across the field, I don't know if you're pulling for NT, FAU, Indiana, or whoever. Wear green. Let 'em assume the white. GO MEAN WHITE, err, GREEN
  22. La La is 28,and Tulsa is ranked 49 by the same CBS poll. Tulsa took us apart. Does this mean that La LA is almost TWICE as good as Tulsa ? GO MEAN GREEN
  23. Thanks for the tip. I've been in contact with the NT Police and the Athletic Dept. I hope to hear something soon. Joe
  24. I parked my wife's car in my parking spot down from the Athletic Center (near the walkway) Saturday afternoon about 4:30-5:00. Before I left, I hoisted my new Mean Green banner on my new flag pole. It's the kind of flag pole that uses the weight of the car to provide support. When I left Apogee after the game, I quickly saw my flag/flag pole were gone. Stolen ? Break in the wind and damage someone's car ? I didn't know. The resin base was shattered and part of it missing. I asked the CSC Security man standing near my car if he had been there the entire game and did he see my flag/Flag pole. He said he saw it and saw who he thought were Athletic Department staff remove it. No one at the Athletic Department or Stadium know anything about it. If any of you know anything about my missing North Texas flag and flag pole, please contact me here or with a PM. GO MEAN GREEN
  25. I too appreciate the displine. Have you noticed we haven't drawn an unsportsman like conduct penalty all season. Also no late hits or roughing.(if I'm wrong, please hammer me) I never heard what caused Coach MaC to 'fire' Darius Carey. Some will say it doesn't matter, but as an ardent follower of the Mean Green, I want to know more than, he violated team rules." The same as I'd want to know more than "an undisclosed" injury is keeping "X" out of this week's game. I'd want to know what kind of injury. I wish Riley well also. GO MEAN GREEN
