We were picked to win the west. I don't even know which direction is west now. I liked Johnny, but I'm not sure he was a super coach. And poor free throw shooting seemed to be a North Texas tradition. I bet Johnny will shine at LSU with it's national recruiting ability. Again I really liked JJ but I think he's about a .500 coach. As you know, last season, Aopgee's first, a different generation of teams were invited back at each of 6 home games. The final home game (MUTS ?) featured the team that was fielded when Fouts opened and Ken Bansen "scored" behind a slower but as determined line just as he scored the first TD at Fouts in 1960. I'd really like to have a different jersery era per home game. The lime green and the Stylized Eagle are my favorite. GO MEAN GREEN

Southern Mississippi is team that I am really excited to play. Their "anyone, anywhere" attitude is something I would like to see North Texas adopt. While NT does play "everyone, every place" Southern Miss plays and wins. They will be very good conference mates. As well as great tail gate hosts. GO MEAN GREEN

One good reason to recruit Texas high school talent is because the scholarship of a Texas resident is cheaper. My understanding is that out of state recruits, even those on scholarship, must pay out of state tuition. To say nothing of the fact that a Texas athlete is more likely to bring his Texas friends and family to watch him play.

I haven't been to a basketball coach show this year because I'm so down about how the season is going relative to how I thought it was going to go. But I have been to a good many football coach shows and have asked questions a number of times. And many times, I asked a question just to help the Q & A along a bit. Like KRAM says sometimes they are really looking for questions from the audience. All you have to do is to move up to one of the front seats when George or Hank announce that they will answer questions from the fans present. The first questioner picks up the michrophone, asks a question and hands the mich to the next questioner. It's literally like talking to the coach from across the table. No cue cards, no make-up.

Since we don't have a baseball team, how do these OOC teams keep getting past first base ?

I was there. We collected tortillas thrown by Tech fans all night and threw them back after the win. As long as Scott Davis was in the game I always felt like we had a good chance to win. I'd like to have that feeling again. Soon. Frequently. GO MEAN GREEN
