  1. Golly, I wish people wouldnt refer to this as a worm. Worms dont have talons. Do you see the wings ? Its an eagle. A University of North Texas Eagle.
  2. I'm hoping for Hayden Fry like success this season from Coach MaC. And I'm a huge Coach Mac fan. I can't wait for football. But the way Coach Mac brings out his team annoys me. The team comes out, touches the eagle......and stops at the goal line. The crowd is cheering, and the team stops. They get last second inspiration, and finally ("Here come the MEAN GREEN"), run out onto the field lead by Coach Mac. I feel like they (we) lose momentium when they stop at the goal line. I'd prefer a smooth entrance onto the field with each player brushing the eagle ala Norte Dame "play like a champion today" and continue to the field and to the sideline. GO MEAN GREEN
  3. Thank you for referring to the former, and best, NT logo by it's correct name, "stylized eagle." Although SOW would refer to a worm. GO MEAN GREEN
  4. My wife comes with me to the games. But your "barbed wire" story reminds me of a scenerio between wife and me. I own a green MG. My kids used to call it the "little green car." Whenever we're driving and I see an MG parked somewhere, I'll say, "Look at that MG." To which my wife will respond, "Notice it's not running."
  5. I got to Apogee just after 6 and the parking lot looked like it was a game day. I had to park well away from the stadium and walk. The "basketball" band played and the cheerleaders danced. A great event with lots of participation. I walked by Coach MaC and almost didn't recognize him without his now trademark dark glasses. Now translate that energy to the field and let's win. 6. I heard that. He needs a private sit down with RV to understand how that will never happen. And I'm always troubled to hear my University's mascot referred to as a "worm." GO MEAN GREEN
  7. I never saw a QB tougher than Jordan Case. He would appear near death unable to practice all week. On game day he would come alive and he and Hayden Fry would run a terrific offense. I was a huge fan of Scott DAVIS while he was here. I got to know his Dad and we even invited him to our home for pizza. My sons were in little boy football heaven (this was probably a violation of some NCAA rule, by the way). As long as Scott DAVIS was in the game, I always felt NT had a chance to win. I saw JaMario Thomas play his first game at Colorado and later that season at Baylor. I've never seen a better back than Thomas at Colorado. Ralphie and the rest of the Colorado fans were silent and #20 put on a show the first half. Same thing in Waco until Thomas hurt his hamstring. Ironically, despite a huge performance, we lost both games. Wins that never were. GO MEAN GREEN
  8. I hate to ask this, but how does the "pistol" differ from the "shotgun" ?
  9. Doesn't mean anything
  10. So your question is, will there be helmet stickers this year ?
  11. There's no need for anything on the back of a jersey, any jersey, except the number. That's what programs are for.
  12. There already is a Tennessee State in Nashville.
  13. I try to call them Middle as well. I know it annoys me when people use an incorrect name when referring to North Texas.
  14. You may be right. But even if you are, and you likely are, I'm wondering if the statement isn't "We want you to waer North Texas gear to a North Texas game, and that you're (the fan) stupid to wear your OK State shirt here." Is the reward worth the risk ? I'd appreciate your responses.
  15. I'd like to see the Cheerleaders find at least one person per game wearing a non-revelant t-shirt (a team that is not playing ) and make a big deal about it and give them a t-shirt to put on over their Texas or Notre Dame or whatever shirt. "Look everybody. This guy is wearing a UCLA shirt (everybody boos). Let's give him a North Texas shirt (everybody cheers)." And fans cheer louder when he puts it on.
  16. As I recall, North Texas played Marshall in the first round of the NCAA 1-AA Playoff Tournament some years ago. I don't recall the year, but it would have been during the Corkey Nelson era. We traveled to WV and lost. We may have played them other times as well but I don't remember playing Marshall otherwise. GO MEAN GREEN
  17. I admit I noticed the "doom" is gone but the "gloom" is as present as ever.
  18. To quote one of my favorite philosophers, "Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care."
  19. All in all, I like 10Eagle 10 's prediction better. GO MEAN GREEN
  20. I'm sure it's too little, too late, but I'd like to think that North Texas would bring so many fans to Tulsa this year that the Hurricane would re-think what everybody is assuming will be their move to the bEast. We drove there last time (about 4 hours I think) and stayed in a really great downtown hotel. Tulsa is a great city. It's too bad that the locals only seem to see Zero U. GO MEAN GREEN
  21. While that cake doesn't look so good to me, I always appreciates the comments and views of ARKSTFAN. Happy birthday and I look foward to meeting you one day. GO MEAN GREEN
  22. I don't know how I feel about them as a conference mate, but I've been impressed with how quickly people have grown accustomed to the name "Texas State." Everybody knows who/where Texas State is and I've heard no one still referring to them as STSU. 2 decades later there are still those that call us NTSU.
  23. Me too. I want stellar scholars and stellar athletes in the same person.
  24. What he said. Of course I want our athletes to be good students. And to graduate on time. But they are student-atheletes. I'd like them just as well if they all made a 4.0 and were successful on the field. One should not disqualify the other. GO MEAN GREEN
