Tulsa, and of course New Orleans, are great cities. I went to the game in Tulsa last season and had the opportunity to visit some shopping areas, a festival, some watering holes, and a wonderful Episcopal Church downtown. I'm very sorry to see Tulsa leave CUSA. I hope we can beat them on their way out. New Orleans speaks for itself. Re-consider Tulsa and Tulane. Come back and all is forgiven. GO MEAN GREEN

ULM to start offering beer at football games
greenjoe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Beer sales, when it happens, will be limited to the "alumni" side of the stadium and no beer can be taken back to the "student" side. Also, beer sales will stop at the end of the 3rd quarter. There is a lot to the Club Level that is not alcohol. The Hospitality Department puts on a first class meal with linen table cloths and linen napkins and a desert selection that would make the most zealous dieter cheat a bit. The glassed in ballroom offers a cool place to go early in the season and a warm spot to drink hot chocolate or coffee when it gets cold. Other college games are shown before the North Texas kickoff. Buying Club Level seats has been the best part of Apogee Stadium for me. Hurry August 13. Beat Idaho GO MEAN GREEN -

I heard a Ticket Ticker about 10:30 this morning (Tu). They mentioned the 100 year celebration and the new uniforms. They said the white helmets represented the 50s (Odus Mitchell era and intergration), the dark green jerseys were from the Joe Greene era, obviously the Stylized Eagle from the Fry era, and the light turnied green and I missed theeen stripe on the pants. I thought it was interesting that the uniform modeled by Cyril Lemon was number 75. This number was retired along with 3 others. Personally, I would like to see these 4 jersey numbers to be returned to service by the former players or their families. Maybe given to players we expect a lot out of. Similar to how the Cowboys handle #88. I would like to think that every season we potentially have a player that is good enough that we would otherwise consider retiring his jersey number. Now, the uniforms look good. How about winning in those uniforms. And in whatever uniform North Texas is wearing on a given day. GO MEAN GREEN

Don't forget to join us at the Alumni Center Saturday at 10:00am. We'll split into teams and cover Denton city as best as we can. I'll have some blue painter's tape cut into strips. Please use as little tape as possible to do the job. We're not covering windows for a hurricane here. Many hands make light work. GO MEAN GREEN

Vito's “Get Your Rear on the Record” contest time
greenjoe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I didn't see a prize mentioned, but I'll be in the running with a 6-6 prediction. Not a winning record, but good enough for a bowl bid. GO MEAN GREEN -

I would like to think that fans would buy season tickets to watch and support North Texas football, not Derick Thompson football, or Dan McCarney football, or a helmet-I-like football. North Texas football will last for another 100 years. Be a part of North Texas football. GO MEAN GREEN

No. We're not like everybody else. Our 3 X 5 is $24.99 and the 4 X 6 is $39.99. I priced these especially low to get as many out flying in the breeze as possible. They don't do anyone any good folded in a drawer. Open 9-6 Mon- Sat. 940) 387-9314 GO MEAN GREEN

Stylized Eagle
-
Former Norrth Texas coach Dennis Parker tried to create a tradition at NT called the nest. His plan was to build a large "nest" out of lumber on the lawn on the south end of Fouts and every time North Texas defeated a team we were not supposed to beat and "eagle egg" was to be placed in the nest. He said that each year's team could then boast as to how many eggs they had placed in the nest. And that's the last I ever heard of it. GO MEAN GREEN

"Actually, TCU is a lizard." Except that his postings here make GOMEANGREEN numbers look even better, I wish he or she would just stay on the fightinglizard.com site. I wonder if he went to TCU or just to Wal-Mart ? GO MEAN GREEN
