  1. I was thinking a weather proof "warehouse" where we could work a little at a time, protect the project from the elements, and be easily transported the day of the parade. I think it should be indoors. i like the idea of Coach MaC and as many players and the HoD trophy being in the parade as well. My thought was a float, not a car with crepe paper streamers, with something to say (ie. Mean Green HoD Bowl champs, 'We know green', etc). Please ask friends if they know of a place around Greenville we could borrow for a short time. North Texas-Dallas' Team Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  2. Now that the dust has settled on the Heart of Dallas Bowl and the Christmas decorations are stored for another 9 months, I'd like to talk about a GOMEANGREEN promotion in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dallas. North Texas has another opportunity to sell itself in the area with a presence in Dalllas. And who knows more about being green than North Texas fans. It seems to me that first, we need to decide if this is worth doing and if so, how do we pay for it. I understand the entry fee is $500. Next, what sort of entry do we do ? Is there a warehouse in the parade area we could use for a month to build a float ? And we'll need workers and riders. And green candy to throw to the thousands of cheering Mean Green fans. Please discuss among yourselves. But discuss it quickly. St. Patty Day is a'coming. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN

  4. An example of an old sign.
  5. Did our mayor make it to the game ?
  6. I hope we beat them by 1 point. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  7. 25 point underdogs ? Maybe. But we coome into that game as bowl champions with a proven coach and staff. UT will always be UT and of course they will be the favorite. We need a weakened UT and a ton of good luck but this may be the year. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  8. When you finish the hard work, I'd like to buy a copy please. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  9. I've never been a fan of college referees using instant replay to determine calls. But if we had had replay back in '88, we would have won. I can't wait until August 30. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  10. Didn't they used to sell O'Korn under the bleachers at Fouts ? Seems like a big bag of O'Korn was $4. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  11. I like this idea. Ya know those big search lights used to attract attention to a grand opening . I wonder if there is a green lens that could be put over the light to make it a green search light ? In the old days,(ie Plumm) those searchlights were huge carried on an 18 wheel truck. I've seen them lately and they fit in the back of a pick up truck. Good idea and Apogee is the perfect place to show off our "Green light to greatness." Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  12. I sure wish they were green
  13. imagine a few season ticket prospects getting a call from Coach MaC. "Hello." "Hello Bob ? This is Coach Dan McCarney. How are you ? Wasn't that a great bowl win New Year's Day ? Especially for our seniors. I'm calling to see if you'd be interested in buying season tickets for next year." "well coach, I was thinking that season tickets would be a great way to show support for North Texas as well as being a lot of fun for our family." "You're damn right its fun. And we're going to beat the hell out of those damned Southern Meth Mustangs first home game here at Apogee." "OK Coach. You've got a deal" "Thanks Bob. I appreciate your commitment. Go Mean Green."
  14. I always liked Todd Dodge. Make no mistake, I was not happy with the results of his teams the 3 years he was here, but I always enjoyed visiting with him the few times I was able to. I can't say that about all former NT coaches. The same for Riley. I really felt we had a chance as long as Riley was on the field. I was sorry he transferred. I hope they both have a lot of success and that they think fondly of their time at North Texas. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  15. I thought it funny that there was a Mean Green banner being waved in front of the UNLV band. The flag bearer even waved in rhythm to the music. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  16. I'm hoping a Texas team without a coach, at least at this writing, will be a bit easier to sneak up on. By the way, I saw a great t-shirt yesterday in section 24 appx row 30: "KEEP DENTON BEERed" Produce this somebody. Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  17. I know, I know, it's way too early, but does anyone know dates and opponents for later this year ? Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  18. Sometime during the second quarter, Scott Campbell stood up and asked, "Where's Joe Holland ?" I stood up. Scott wished me a happy anniversary (The newspaper had an announcement and short write-up of Brenda and my 35th anniversary). Brenda stood and joined me and Scott asked everyone to congratulate us (Brenda is the one that should be congratulated or consoled). It was a terrific moment at a terrific event. Thanks Scott. 19. I'd like to know if the two mayors were at the game today Thanks for a great win today Mean Green Beat Texas GO MEAN GREEN
  20. I've obviously stumbled onto the wrong fan board.
  21. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  22. At your (and my) age, you'd better be careful about wishing for your heart to be still.
  23. Maybe so. But North Texas is the only team in the DFW area with a winning record.
  24. I wonder if KING DL could get special clearance from DFW/LOVE and fly over and get a great photo from above ? Beat UNLV GO MEAN GREEN
  25. Dale e-mailed me as well. I'm sure he'll do the story tonight. I like Dale Hansen because of his relentless attaack on the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. Beat UNLV GO MEAN GREEN
