Brint Ryan purchasing UNT AD naming rights for $1 million
greenjoe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Among other projects, Ryan renovated and operates the old Settles Hotel in Big Spring, TX, and I understand he heads a group intending to restore the old Baker Hotel in downtown Mineral Wells, TX. I've never met him and I look forward to the opportunity. GO MEAN GREEN- 32 replies

UNT's schedule is out... We will not rest
greenjoe replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Is it possible we could still get a game the first weekend of September ? If XYZ Southern University called and wanted to play at Apogee that first weekend could we still schedule them ? -
I hate an out of conference opponent, especially one from the SEC, with only 3 weeks in the regular season. GO MEAN GREEN

Maybe if you changed the name to NTbags ? I'd invite my wife to play NTbags but not....nevermind.

Denia concerned about Sack n Save; Dead convention center idea
greenjoe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Not football related, however..... The Albertson's building on Loop 288/Lillian Miller has been occupied for at least a year by a Goodwill store/drop off center. The La Azteca is on I-35E next to the Outback Steakhouse and El Pariente has been closed for over a year. Many Denton businesses are being closed for the I-35 expansion. Among them are the McDonald's and the Exxon station, the Taco Bueno and Ramey King Insurance. I would think that the Sack 'n' Save building will not be torn down, but the parking lot will be all but gone. That's probably why the University is buying the building. Not the parking lot-just the building. Your mileage may vary. GO MEAN GREEN -
When my son went to OU (2001), Texas counties that bordered Oklahoma were given in-state tuition. Denton County residents were not. He spent (wasted) 3 years at Oklahoma before transferring to NT and finishing his degree.

I find the name really offensive.

Gosh, it just occured to me that unless North Texas wins the NCAA tournament, George Dunham's last game will be that of a loss. I guess he shouild have retired after a football season.

That's a great idea. Chuck Mills is entertaining just reading the phone book. He would be a good addition to the broadcast. I don't know how his basketball color would be. Chuck coached here during the Corky era (linebackers and special teams) and also was the head guy at Lewisville for a while (state championship ?). Good idea. GO MEAN GREEN

I hear he's been hired by Russia State.

I've got nothing against LaLa, but I remember all the moaning and gnashing of teeth we all went through trying to get out of the Sun Belt. Now it seems, we're doing everything we can to "get the band back together" and call the Sun Belt CUSA. CUSA needs a team from a conference other than the Sun Belt if we are to maintain any distance from our old neighborhood. GO MEAN GREEN

I always assume that when anyone goes to BYU they are Mormon. It's not always the case but I wonder if Coach Wintrich is Mormon ? Maybe Coach MaC and Coach Wintrich can put together a home and home. GO MEAN GREEN

I don't think my friend Bill Mercer is a PHd. And the post by LETSGIVEACHEER was underrated. Braniff Airlines didn't have a "tail to move for you." GO MEAN GREEN

That McDonald's opened during the Hayden Fry era. The owners, the Phillips brothers, were cleaver enough to include life size lime green football helmet light fixtures, lime green tables and counters, and a bunch of mural size North Texas action photos all around the restaurant. I wish more eateries would use the Mean Green motif in their decorations. There is a Whataburger in College Station that despite the orange and white vertical stripes sports an A&M logo in the upper corner of the roof. I tried to get the manager to consider a NT logo on the Whataburger here on Ft. worth Drive to no avail. We'll miss you McDonald's. GO MEAN GREEN

Did you listen to the audio behind this link ? The person speaking said that the salaries paid Texas coaches was funded by taxpayers. After I heard that, I questioned the entire thing. GO MEAN GREEN

UH joining the Big 12 would remind me of the Blues Brothers and their "getting the band back together." And, speaking of UH and the Big 12, and assuming their acceptance of such a bid, how would that effect Southern Meth and the American Airlines Conference ? GO MEAN GREEN

This morning's DR-C has a Bret Vito story about Bruce Chambers being fired at Texas. He played here and spent 14 seasons at Dallas Carter winning 13 district titles. Chambers joined Mack Browns staff in 1998. Therefore, a national championship ring. Does NT have a need of an experienced coach with an obvious Mean Green tie ? GO MEAN GREEN

Try this on for size.... Someone, please compare the Trilli era with that of the Benford era so far.
