I'm fine with Jalie. I'm glad to get one of our alums back as a coach. However, this is another example of RV not hiring a head coach that has had head coach experience. Benford was first. I never met Becky Hall. I spoke with her lots and lots of times. I have never made it a habit of going to the Athletic Dept. to hang around. It's funny hthat if I did need to stop by, she was at lunch or had just stepped out. I always found her to be friendly and reliable. Whenever I needed someone to call me, I'd call Becky first and then I'd get a call. I always assumed I'd meet her and now time has expired. There is a lesson here. Thanks Becky. GO MEAN GREEN

Quick story if you don't mind. This place was originally called MG's. Before they opened, I walked past several times per week. I stopped in during the remodeling process (the building used to house a Braums). I learned the new restaurant was being opened by a father and son named Gary (?) and Mike (?). I asked what they were going to call the place and they said they weren't sure, but maybe GM's. I suggested they call it MG's and use a little British sports car as their gimmick. They opened as MG's and at least for a while, had one side of a MGB and the front end of the car on display. As the owner of an MG, I'm a little sensitive about people using samples of my car for restaurant décor, but that's just one of several little items I'm trying to deal with each day. Whew. With George leaving and Coach Peterson gone, I was wondering which job is getting the most applicants. I would think the paly-by-play guy would/could be here longer than any current Athletic Dept. employee. George was here 25 years. And so that's an important hire. But the Women's BB coach needs to be on the road right now trying to keep up with contacts made by Coach Peterson. Are demo tapes stacked up on somebody's desk and does a prospect come in and try out the press box. Does he have to audition with Hank ? While a coach prospect has been "auditioning" his/her entire career, although we saw that's not entirely reliable. Does the play-by-play guy have to bring his own microphone and does the women's coach have to have their own shoe contract ? I'd still like to see Chuck Mills do color and move Hank to play-by-play. And for that matter, let Chuck coach women's BB as well. How bad could he be ? 89 feet of heat ? GO MEAN GREEN

Bill Blakely was for years, the only reason my wife attended North Texas basketball games. I've got an old Bill Blakely autographed program somewhere showing Coach Blakely pulling on his tie toward the side and sticking out his tongue showing the ref his displeasure with a call. Blakely used to have a "season motto" on the back of his seat on courtside: "Under Construction", "still under construction", "miracles never cease", etc.
