  1. After looking at that video, we need to get the lighting improved in the locker room before we worry about uniforms.
  2. The first football my Dad bought for me was "autographed" by Lou "The Toe" Groza.
  3. I voted for Corky like everybody else so far. Since the Coach MaC era is still going, I don't think he should be considered. If he reels off 10 or 15 12-0 seasons, he'll be my favorite. But Corky did more with less.
  4. Exactly my wife's position. But, they're there at Apogee. They must be impressed with the stadium. Who wouldn't be. And Hank did ask everyone to come back on September 17 (?) to watch the game. As I stated, it would only take 10 of so new season ticket holders to make it all worthwhile. A couple of cheerleaders or dancers and Scrappy. You've got the perfect photo opportunity and it's only a small step to want to come back and see a game. After all, it IS a football stadium. But I'm sure you and my wife are correct. GO MEAN GREEN
  5. All 6 of us went to Apogee Saturday night for the Annual Kiwanis Fireworks Show. We got there about 8:15 and there were a few people on the press box side. The band, High School Caesar played blues until the FW show started. The Hub Club was open with a cash bar and free soft drinks. The fireworks show started at 9:45 and lasted until 10:15. As a poor estimator of attendance, I would guess the press box side was about half full. Ditto the Hub Club. I don't know why it was so hard to get out of the stadium. Maybe all the exits were not open. With fewer people than on a game day, I would have thought we'd be gone quickly. Maybe that's why so many rough it and sit on the Hill or in area parking lots. One thing that surprised me, despite a video of NT athletes and a pep talk video from Coach MaC, there was no mention of season tickets. Hank asked everybody to come back for the RIce game and to travel to watch NT pummel Southern Meth but no season ticket rah rah. I would have liked to see an athletic dept member at each entrance handing out order forms for season tickets. "Look Edith. We can buy season tickets for as little as $85. My wife says this is a bad idea but if we were to 10 new season ticket holders, yada, yada, yada. Also, I'm always surprised when people can't pronounce APOGEE. I hear neophytes try to make it French, AP-O-ZAY. GO MEAN GREEN
  6. For anyone that cares, "eats, shoots and leaves" is my all-time favorite joke. Again, for anyone that cares, ask me and in the proper company, I'll tell my favorite joke. GO MEAN GREEN
  7. Do you remember when NT hosted Oklahoma State at the Cotton Bowl back in the 80s ? It was during the Fry era and the game was promoted with a Country & Western music concert. There were lots of C&W celebrities I wasn't familiar with and posters were all over town. All I was aware of in college football was North Texas and the old SWC. I also had never heard of Oklahoma State. I assumed they were another version of NE Louisiana or SW Louisiana or the like. Was I ever surprised when a zillion OSU fans invaded what I had believed to be an out of town home game for NT. Not only did we get pounded on the field but the attendance was horrible and all those C&W performers went on in front of a few hundred orange clad fans. One of my worst Mean Green memories. 8. I guess I'm going to have to add the Southern Meth athletic office to my speed dial. I called again today (Friday 12:20) to ask about the North Texas Southern Meth game. The nice lady that took my call told me that she had no information on the kickoff time for the game. I reminded her that ESPN had the game set for (6:00) 7:00pm EST. She reiterated that she had no further information but conceded that if ESPN said kickoff was at 6:00 that that was probably correct. So I'm making plans for that day that will end with my watching North Texas pound Southern Meth into Ford Field. GO MEAN GREEN
  9. Don't get me wrong, I want a 6:00 kickoff. But I can't find anyplace that mentions a 6:00 kick except my very learned colleague, "All About UNT." I looked at ESPN and found the game but with the TBD initials as the time. I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'. GO MEAN GREEN
  10. I just called the Southern Meth ticket office (Wed 5:00p) and the young man there (Anthony) said he understood it would either be a 11:00 or a 3:00 kick. He said since they had a 6:00 the prior week, he thought the time would be earlier. Don't know what he knows but that's what he said. I'm hoping for 6:00. GO MEAN GREEN
  11. That Mean Green van was his personal vehicle. Bill told me that it was his and that he paid to have it painted Mean Green. A level of dedication difficult to match. Thanks Bill. GO MEAN GREN
  12. Inside the 45... the TMZ - Trevor Moore Zone GO MEAN GREEN
  13. I always find this sort of situation amazing. People call these players men when they score a touchdown or intercept a pass but call them kids when they are caught stealing or cheating. I think all of them, regardless of the label we use, know that stealing is not only wrong but against the law. Certainly they would know theft is wrong and/or illegal if the item stolen were taken from them. If a television were stolen from their family I bet they would know it's wrong. Men or kids, people that steal are thieves. They don't deserve to be called North Texas Athletes. GO MEAN GREEN
  14. Here's the thing.... Nothing matters unless we 1) Fill the Southern Meth Stadium with GREEN and make it look like a home game for NT and 2) beat Southern Meth into the sand. GO MEAN GREEN
  15. I find it hard to believe that this guy came to Denton and had never done this sort of thing before. Perhaps had never been caught, arrested, and had a mug shot before. I'm always sorry when a thief is given the title "North Texas Football Player." It's his choice. I'm sorry we wasted a scholarship this way.
  16. We're taking the train to the game. I understand it won't be the most direct route but we had so much fun riding the A Train to the HOD Bowl we're doing it again. Our home opener at our Dallas substation. I am anxious to know the kickoff time. GO MEAN GREEN
  17. My Dad's family all went to either Ole Miss or Mississippi State. I planned to go to Ole Miss and then life happened. I'd like to schedule either 1 for 1. My son was in the Corps of Cadets and Texas A&M. He was one of the Mascot Corporals so we got to know Reveille VII. The word tradition was coined at TAMU. I also like Texas but I'd love to beat them some day. GO MEAN GREEN
  18. I think it's easy for me to like this idea. the hard part would be to get Coach MaC to like this idea. After all, it's his $25,000.
  19. Kentucky could increase it's recruiting base better at Apogee than at Southern Miss.
  20. If I wanted to influence this young man, which I'm not, I would tell him that I like his phrasing of "THE Apogee", which I won't do either. If he wanted to, which I can't influence, I would hope he comes to all our home games, which I also can't influence, and to cheer, only if he is so moved, for the Mean Green. Welcome to any and all athletes interested in joining the Mean Green family. GO MEAN GREEN

  22. And when we do it's too late. GO MEAN GREEN
  23. I liked RV's overview of the baseball program. He stated that BB was the only thing on his "to do list" that had not been accomplished. He surprised me when he said that NT could compete for a national championship in baseball. Then, backed it up by reminding the crowd that Dallas Baptist had done it with North Texas (region) talent. I think baseball is right around the corner. Batter up ! As to the crowd, there were many more attendees than there were chairs. A happy problem. GO MEAN GREEN
  24. The NT socks that Denton Bicycle sells, according to the label, are made in USA. GO MEAN GREEN
  25. Well, I'd rather it sound like "I Saw Her Standing There" but failing that, I'm glad it's about Denton than any other place I can think of. I hope it's a hit. GO MEAN GREEN
