  1. Coach Atkisson spoke at my Kiwanis meeting a couple of weeks ago. He said to answer a specific question, that Xavier Scott would like to go to NT but has not been contacted. Keep in mind that this is Denton High School. DHS is about 1 mile from the NT campus and, unless he has recently left, is where Derek Thompson is the QB coach. Your mileage may vary. GO MEAN GREEN
  2. I bet James Madison didn't even have a banner and airplane.
  3. Curious that Brandon Garner refers to Denton (123,000) as a small town as opposed to Purdue's city, West Lafayette, Indiana (31,000). Just sayin' GO MEAN GREEN
  4. I don't remember our last win. GO MEAN GREEN
  5. I would hope that all NT fans would hope for the very best for all NT alums. Athletes or not. Run Tony Run GO MEAN GREEN
  6. Too bad it's apparently on fire.
  7. Or, just add a couple of seat rails and have the entire stadium with a seat back. And then, adjust the price of the seats to pay for the whole stadium.
  8. They'll be available by next home game and for the CUSA Championship game. That's 5 games. Whadda you want ??
  9. Where is Lee Jackson's name ?
  10. Funny you mention the stub on the parking pass. I got to the white lot (right in front of the athletic dept building) at noon. the parking guy motioned for me to go to my spot. I rolled down the window and asked if he wanted the stub. "They didn't tell us to take them" was the reply. Rules ? We don't need stinkin' rules. Now, having said that, the wife unit asked for sunglasses about 30 seconds before kickoff. I ran down 99 steps (counted them) to go back to the parking lot. The lady told me if I left, I couldn't come back in. I assured her that I would be back and except for the eye roll thing, I got back in without incident.
  11. I thought the attendance was OK Saturday despite the weather. I can't find an official number. Does anyone know ? GO MEAN GREEN
  12. I thought the announcer said she was embarassed to tell her friends what her dad did for a living. I understood her to say her "DAD" (Rick V) was a "DUD." Not an editorial here. that's what I thought I heard her say/. When we play these guys at Apogee in the future, I hope we can delay the Green Brigade getting on the field long enough that after the GB finishes, there isn't time for the non-marching rice band to get onto the field.
  13. They say that any publicity is good publicity. That even an obituary can enhance the value of the estate. However, somehow I think for North Texas to always be on or near such lists might not be a positive when students/instructors/donors consider North Texas. No one would stand for North Texas to have a history department consistently ranked near the bottom of all college history departments in the nation. If North Texas had a business or accounting program that was laughed at, heads would roll and those programs would get better. Why is the same not true for athletics ? And when I say athletics, I mean FB, BB, and WBB. I want softball and volleyball and tennis to do well but those sports are not what make people plan their weekends months in advance. For my money, the accounting department and it's requirement for a business degree could have been dropped. None of my friends liked it and we certainly had better things to do with our time. 14. What must it be like to drive down I-35 with the kids and pass an old, outdated football stadium that has had half of it's stands torn down ? "Look Tommy. This is a tribute to your great grandfather. He was really well thought of around here back in the old days." BEATRICE
  15. Jim McNatt is part of a long time auto dealer family in Denton. He and his wife Linda are frequent attendees at Apogee. The new City of Denton Animal Shelter is named after Linda McNatt. Jim McNatt recently sold his Toyota and Honda dealers. They're just called Denton Toyota/Honda. Thanks to the McNatts for this wonderful gift. With no strings attached that I have heard of. GO MEAN GREEN PS....Does this mean we can take the Darrell Dickey sign down from the practice field ?
  16. This is obviously a dead horse (?), but, It was a home game for Southern Meth. Shouldn't one expect the home team would have more fans ? GO MEAN GREEN
  17. So they've lost 1 for the season and we've lost 3. Lemme see here.... Here's to no more injuries. All teams. GO MEAN GREEN
  18. I took 4 non-regular attendees to the game Saturday. We had a great time. The student presence was over whelming and the band and cheer groups made the aftenoon seem like a home game. The BBQ at the Mean Green tent was very good and it was fun to visit with green friends. Every time the banner would fly over everyone would look up and point. I've never seen anything like it at a "road" game. I spoke with Rick V and I know he saw the banner. I don't know if he liked it or not but he saw it. I sat among some really good NT fans. My friends and I enjoyed the afternoon and evening. Until the second half. I was proud of my University Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN
  19. He'll be claiming to have an inner city ministry before Monday. I've heard of bunny ears, and big ears, and ears of corn, and pony tails. But I have never heard of pony ears. Beat Southern Meth GO MEAN GREEN
  20. Yep. A rivalry. Just ask their coach. Beat Southern Meth GO MEAN GREEN
  21. Chad Morris said it best. "They are our rivals from just up the road. We were embarrassed up there last year." Beat Southern Meth. Everything else is just gravy. GO MEAN GREEN
  22. Too bad he's hurt, but that may be good for NT. I hope he makes a complete recovery right after the NT game. But all is not lost. The above post says he's "insured." I hope it's not a HMO. Beat Southern Meth GO MEAN GREEN
  23. I have never coached a college football team. Or a high school team or a jr. high team. I have coached a pee wee team. But I do know a bit about business. And although I don't know about the business of coaching, I think a coach that knows his business wants to put the best players on the field if not to win for the "glory of UNT", then to keep himself employed. Or, to make himself attractive for the next coaching opportunity that comes along. Coach MaC has coached in the highest levels of college coaching and I have to think he knows his job. Everybody makes mistakes and Coach MaC mistakes are witnessed by 25,000 critics and video recording. I would hate to think that my career was based on the ability of a 18 to 21 year old to understand and execute instructions. But that's just me. Beat Southern Meth GO MEAN GREEN
  24. I'd settle for a 1.5 point win right now and stay home next Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN
  25. Each separate field is stitched in place. The star is stitched in place. the dark green field is stitched in place, and the lime green field is stitched in place. Nothing, and I mean nothing but the best for my University and my Mean Green friends. GO MEAN GREEN
