Censorship Stinks - Topics Being Deleted Is Wrong
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to GreenBlooded1's topic in Mean Green Football
--Ahh.. Love those West Texas girls.. They know what is important in life. Married one... [ she won our family and friends fantasy league last year ] She even suggested we buy a hi-def wide screen-TV to watch the Super Bowl.... and we did.... .LOL from Midland _____________ Quoting the Bible --The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away...... The Admistrator-Gods of the board created this thing ....so they have the power and right to edit as they wish.... we have the right to not use it.... LOL PS... I am not even close to being a Bible thumper.... -
--Maybe that is true (weak O-line).... but then I think it does matter who the QB is..... then the QB needs to have some mobility, be able to think fast, and be able find a receiver and get rid of the ball in a hurry to OUR receiver and not the defensive player. The worse the line is, the the quicker and smarter the QB needs to be. .. ---This problem also falls on the sideline... plays will need to be called that develop fast with an probable open receiver in the first 5 yards or so... and not plays designed to hit the deep receiver as the first option...... although sone receivers should have a deep pattern just to pull defenders from the line of scrimmage if nothing else. A deep receivers also give a hurried QB a chance to throw long and incomplete without risking a intentional grounding penality. You can be sure that Dodge understands this... he has not won a Zillion games without thinking out every option and the consequences. You also will see a different type of play some weeks based on what we can or can't do agains certain defensive situations. This is what excites me about Dodge... He knows how to win when winning is possible.

Fouts Field - Officials Argue For New Stadium
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
----Good article BUT the dates given for comparing stadiums is a bit crazy....Most of those that are older than Fouts barely resemble what they looked like when they were built and in fact many have destroyed much of the former structure and replaced it. Many of them are now 2-3-4 times larger than they were when opened on the date given. My picture when I was 25 and what I look like now(age 60+) is not a good camparison.... neither are those stadium date comparisons. -
Pac 10- We'd Leave B C S Over Plus-1

----I really hated the old system.... for example you could have an undefeated team in Rose bowl and an undefeated team in the Cotton, Sugar or Orange Bowl or even in three of those Bowls. and their was no way they could play each other. Nothing was ever decided in the post season on the field. Even the AP poll did not consider Bowl games in their voting for " National Champion" Most bowl game teams had not played a game in over a month or since Thanksgiving and often did not really take practice much and or those games all that seriously. (at least when I was in college during the dark ages) I think it the 80's when the AP started considering Bowl games results in their voting. The AP coaches bowl had taken those games into account. ---The undefeated Rose Bowl winner was nearly always considered the champion in those situations.... Guess where the population centers were and were the voters were concentrated.?????? It was an awful system and beside at one time the Pac-10 and Big-10 did not send more than one team to a bowl and then only the Rose bowl. They rarely played Southern schools either. The North-East, Midwest and Far West still considered the Southwest and South as country-bumpkin schools. They still do somewhat on the US News college rankings. ---Space satellites, mass communication, and cables changed everything during the 80's regarding sports because of so much coverage and with respect to Bowl Games. I think your memory of what was happening is flawed... It often was not even possible for the top 3-4 to play each other because of conference tie-ins. -
"Arky" is insulting but Hogg or Pig is ok to the people of Arkansas??? A Razorback is a very ugly Hog. Rather be an Arkie than a pig.... I don't think "Sooner" (Cheater), " Jayhawk" (not good), or even "Corn Husker" are all that great of names either. Trojan has a a bad meaning and come to think about it about half the mascots (at least) could have a politically incorrect "twist" to them. Surprised the NCAAP doesn't object to Tennessee Volunteers, LSU Fighting Tigers, Mississppi Rebels, since all of them have a meaning tied to the Civil War. Then we have all these mean predatory animals...Eagles, Lobos, Lions, Tigers, Hawks, Bears, etc. ---Ohio State has is made... be a plant...!!!! Buck-eye... or Syracuse... just a color..Orange. (actually it refers to the House of Orange which still rules Holland, remember NY was once New Amsterdam until the mean British took it away from them. I guess that made them the "Angry Orange".

We now know why Vick is so good at eluding tacklers ---- It is his training routine. -
I hope those pants don't look like what TxTech is wearing now, with a sort of twisted stripe. If they are..I will live over it....we sure won't look like SLC.

Irish To Play Baylor In Irving 2012
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
---You are exactly right...They try to the "America's Team" of college football. Look at their past schedules, There are almost always a couple of games that are big mismatches (Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue etc.). They usually have an Eastern team other than a service academy, (Penn State Lately) They usually play a couple of Southern teams or maybe one Southwestern team, one or two West Coast teams which will include Southern Cal and ther service academies will have a lot of widespead national support. ---They refuse to join a football conference which would give them a regional image and by doing so they get to NOT share their bowl money plus they are on NATIONAL TV every week. (good for recruiting). They have the support of the religious group group that is one of the largest and is the most widespead in America. They are not dumbies when it comes to recruiting..... play all over America and play on TV EVERY week. -
Irish To Play Baylor In Irving 2012
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Notre Dame games: 1988 --Rice 1989 --SMU after death penalty 1998-- Baylor and lots of games against, Army, Navy, Northwestern and usually weak Rutgers. They usually have a 2-3 very weak teams but well known names. That really hasn't been the case much lately though. Service academy games usually appear late in the season when everyone else is playing conference games and have inflexable schedules and strong teams are playing conference games only.. The 1988 Rice game was funny... Rice had several Catholic Priests sitting on their bench. ND did not think it was funny. -
---Maybe we should do our pregame exercises in Boise uniforms...just to get their attention... and bring back old memories for them. It would be interesting if someone dyed their field blue the night before the game or at least the area inside the 10.

If we go 78-1, I am willing to even add the dragon back on.

---The state "went all" out for Teachers this year...you got more than most......Now if every teacher in the state donated their raise we would have a little less than $100 million which should be enough... that or ask everyone in the state to chip in $5.00... about the same difference. ---We really need a very wealthy person to chip in or a at least twist arms of a lot of very wealthy friends... A good corporate sponsor might appear if we can get on TV more which would produce advertising for them. Sure would be nice for a miracle occur at Oklahoma and get peoples attention and us more TV exposure. -
---"With Dickey running the offense, one would expect the Aggies to be a bit more wide open. Dickey isn't tipping his hand". Not tipping his hand... ???? Are they sure he has a "wide-open offensive" to even tip his hand about ?????? ---I am sure DD did the best he could here and he had some pretty good years for us....BUT... he tarnished his memory by suiting out the team in black no-name jerseys in his last home game.. We could have fondly remembered him and the success he had even though we often disagreed with his play calling somewhat... now his memory will be the "sour grapes coach" with the black jerseys. It was a classless act that will never be forgotten.

---They got a little accidental ref help.. One Buffalo receiver ran out of bounds then came back in and caught a pass that I think went for a TD. The Houston defender had released him from coverage knowing that the reciever should have been inelgible after that. The ref do not notice he went out of bounds. There was no-replay that year. Another second half pass was very questionable. It appeared to hit the ground prior to catch.. again no replay so their drive continued. Houston played poorly but not as bad as it looked.. that was 14 points that should have not been earned.

Which Do You Like Better?
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football

---That depends on how you look at it (spin it). Texans lose 181 men..... Mexicans well over a thousand. In the meantime Houston increased the size of his army. You could also say this "victory?" caused Santa Anna to become "very overconfident" and even he and his troops later dared to take a nap in midafternoon knowing that he had Houston trapped about a mile away. Part II: Never give up.!!.... Fannin did at Goliad---- see what happened to him... the Mexican army marched them out of town and just shot them. ________ Personally I hope the SMU-gang just think they just have to show up in order to win and that last year was a complete fluke.. It will make them even more depressed to lose to us under those conditions... ___________ "Remember the Alamo and all the disrespect shown by SMU all these years!" This battle will take more than 18 minutes*.!! *we can hope after 18 minutes that we can be many points ahead and after that we are just shooting the stragglers that are in hiding and fleeing... LOL.

It is more fun for us to have them expect to win then lose..... than for them expect to lose and not be all that disappointed when they lose to us.

Another Shot At Nt Law School Funding?
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to adman's topic in Mean Green Football
---Those guys (Indians, Packies, etc.) sure help the summer enrollment of community colleges especially in science and math classes. I have had dozens of students (in math) that are students at 4-year schools especially Tech or A&M that were home for the summer and were in my summer classes because they had signed up at a "mega-University" and their prof was some foreigner that they could NOT understand that was teaching their first class in their entire life. After a month or two they just dropped, some of these students are actually pretty good students, just trying to cover topics that they may have never done before. ---Often community colleges get a bad (arrogant) rap from 4-year places.... but here (and most others) you will get a prof with a masters or PHD that has likely taught for years and can usually speak English well --- instead of some rookie TA working on a master's that can barely speak or understand English. Going to a CC the first year is really a good idea--- after that things change. I have a lot of students that transfer to UNT. Oddly our transfer students do better than those that started at UNT as for as GPA and graduation rates... UNT provides us those stats. Very few other universities will provide that information, afraid to I suppose.
