  1. ---Anyone who is really down on Dodge is Ridiculous. The only players he recruited are now FRESHMAN.. and we were playing as team in the top ten that at the moment seemed to absolutely belong there. OU's receivers were very good and our corners and backs could not handle them at all. We actually threw for more yards against OU than Texas did against Arky state and the number of passes thrown were very close in number-- 33 to 38. UT and the Aggies will get mauled by OU if this weekend's results mean anything. The Aggies had less first downs, less yards, only had the ball 25 min to Montana States 35 minutes. plus MSU was in the Aggie red zone 5 times and only got 7 points. OU will kill them as well. Beat SMU... [ I believe Fran and the Aggies was behind OU by 80 points at the end of the 3rd quarter a couple of years ago ] those thing happen. I look for next year's recruits to be mostly defense...especially quick skilled corners and DB's. excessive speed with good ability can make a defensive team look very bad and they did. And yes Jimmy Johnson moved up to the NFL and went 1-15.. about three years later they were winning Super Bowls. Mean-Green forever---
  2. ---Later teams pick up player from waivers that others cut so he is not out of the woods yet. They are showing four running backs, Cobbs, Brown, Booker and Chatman. The only RB on the reserve list is Ricky Williams who is gone for the year, I believe.... http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/roster/roster.asp
  3. He is overrunning the ball carrier and then they run behind him... ie. lack of experience.
  4. --Meager isn't the problem... OU talent is.
  5. ---Sounds about right. In Texas a few years ago a suspected Tech fan slugged an Aggie Fan and relative of our "fine???" Governor. Turns out it was another very confused Aggie slugging his fellow Aggie fan. There was Aggie outrage for a while until it was discovered who the "Thug" really was. PS: Speaking of Thugs... I can name a lot people working in education in Texas that would love to bypass the Governor's relative. His line veto of health insurance for community college profs caused "my raise" to be cancelled in order to pay for the insurance that the state had previously provided.
  6. ---Heck no..!!! Dodge doesn't want to run up the score on the poor Sooners... We will be merciful.
  7. ---Looks to me like he has made the regular squad.... behind Ronnie Brown who did not play. He did as well (or better) than the rest of the offence and they gave him a chance to demonstrate that he deserved to be suited up every game and I think he did. He looks to be to be a Kevin Faulk type-player .... not real large but used when the situation could be either a running play and likely a passing play.
  8. --A ditsy teen-age girl...... they may look fairly mature... but once you talk to them most are pretty "lacking" in common sense and knowlege. and she was blond ...... right?? .....LOL
  9. ---Looking at the list I think there is one other item to consider.... enrollment.... Most of those listed are a great deal smaller. I would not turn up my nose at a 35,000 new stadium but it needs to be designed so that expansion that be done rather easily to 50,000. North Texas will get to be over 40,000 enrollment plus as the metroplex gets closer (construction is doing this) we could have a need for a much larger one especially if we start scheduling "name" colleges into Denton. Things will change and hopefully for the better. Just think where we were 15 years ago...in the Southland and in I-AA.... a lot of progress has been made in 10 years. As long as the university's athletic department is pushing to improve we will and we are much better known in athletics statewide than we were 10 years ago. ( I don't live in the metroplex) People don't lump us into the SFA and Sam Houston group anymore. Playing OU, Tech, Baylor, and Texas improves your status some even if you lose ...and we have beaten Baylor and Tech in that period. Beat OU...!! I can dream... Stange things sometimes happen. I don't expect it but I always believe it is possible.. OU had no idea that could lose to Boise either. [ or Kansas in the Big-XII title game a few years ago when they were the slam-dunk #1 against an often beaten team ] Ka-boom the Sooners.!!
  10. Bump... there is a college pick'em contest on yahoo... and it has a Fans of North Texas Group. We are listed in the first week's picks.
  11. Yahoo has a pick'em contest.... and there is a "Fans of North Texas" Group associated with the over-all registration.. no money at stake obviouly. I joined. No one has created a Yahoo NFL fantasy league this year either. Doesn't seem to be many fans as members. We are one of the games listed ...against OU..40.5 underdawg.
  12. ---We can always hope that REALLY LARGE means rather slow. If our QB can get off a lot of rather quick passes then this could work to our benefit. As the game goes on, Bubbas tend to wear out if they have to run quite as bit. Bubbas work pretty well against running teams but not so well against passing ones and teams with very diverse offenses. ---The advantage with the college game over the NFL (on defense) is the number of players on the sideline so that defense can rest the on starters more also they can change up the players on the field to better suit what is being played by the opposition on offense. Comparing the size of their defense vs. our defensive players mean very little.. comparing them to the offensive line does since they actually "hit" each other.
  13. ---True, and who else can you think of that adopted a school mascot that is named for and honoring a group of cheaters. Even SMU was smarter than that. I'm a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die, I'll be Sooner dead Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma Rah Oklahoma, OK U! Sooner born and bred.????? Why are so many of their players from Texas... They are very confused people with a very **"knock-off" song. Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner Boomer Sooner, OK U! Oklahoma, Oklahoma Oklahoma, Oklahoma Oklahoma, Oklahoma Oklahoma, OK U! **21 of the first 25 words are selected from THREE words. ..... I suppose is so their students will not have a lot of trouble reading them.
  14. Some people go to Hooter's for reasons other than football. LOL
  15. --The great WAC conference has two... the were once Sunbelt members and headed for better country.. LOL.. It really helped their program.!!!
  16. --- I am betting that we did not pay money to get out of this game.. I am guessing they wanted a bigger name opponent and agreed to leave provided we could find another opponent with a similiar payout...which we did, and then followed through with leaving. Don't be surprized if we show up on the Miami schedule a couple years later. We are not getting the entire facts here, at least not yet. Technically we may have left this game but there will be more to it than what is currently being reported I would think.
  17. ---Comment reminds me of the cartoon, Dilbert, ( no insult intended in this case) A lot of the management at tech companies don't have a clue what the engineers are doing and often make some really crazy decisions about the company... Both of my sons are engineers and have had people in charge of an area that are absolutely clueless about what the engineers can do, why certain operations and products are important, and what should be done...LOL... again don't take this personal especially if you don't work for a tech company anyway.... The same thing often happens in education when the administration personal knows nothing about the subject area and then make these hairbrained decisions about what should be taught and how. I have had a few of those.
  18. Funny.. I made the other post about the French and I have a Dutch name. My father's Family came from the German side of Dutch border and had a Dutch name
  19. ---- “We don’t tailgate, we Boulevard ---These boys really need to go into rehab..... They want to be well accepted by Dallas and area but they continue to stick their noses into the air. ---They are their own worst enemies. --- The continuation of this attitude really demonstrates just how brilliant these guys really are. They just don't get it. They remind me of the Infamous Marie Antoinette who supposedly stated "Let them eat cake!" when informed the people of Paris had no bread. They just live in their own world and regard every one else as the "Little People. ---For the younger members of the board.. this is why we older alums have no use for the SMU crowd... we have put up with this arrogance and disrespect for decades. ---That "Old Blue Mare" is exactly what she has always been in this regard....... dumb elitists... may they continue to be recognized for what they are and keep sinking in the respect levels from the rest of us. __________________ Meanwhile we NT grads will continue to tailgate and have fun. Let us bar-B-que the pony and make dog-food of them.
  20. --I hate the French... the Darn Normans from France in 1066 invaded England and kicked some of my my ancesters out of their castle.....then they made serfs of us...... I am still waiting for them to pay us for all the damage they did to my family........and to give all of our land back to us.....LOL..
  21. ---I hope whoever they get to replace us on the schedule "pounds the devil out of them" and ruins their season early which will make them wish they had never switched opponents.
  22. ---Just because someone wants something to be true and declares it is true does not mean it is true.....after all a Pope declared the Earth is Flat based on a quote in the Bible that refered to the four corners of the Earth ( everyone knows spheres don't have corners)..... In fact Galileo was excommunicated and almost killed for his claims about the solar system... this Pope declared "the Earth is the center of the universe " because man was the most important item in the universe. Galileo recounted his claims was able to stay alive....good news ..about 10-15 years ago (500 years later) the Catholic Church took-back the excommunication.. so he is now a member in good standing again.......LOL
  23. Re. the avatar: Looks as if the "pony" has too much baggage to be successful.....LOL....so does the Dallas one..... in fact both closely resemble a "jack-ass" and are held up for their short-comings. _______________ We were NOT I-AA in 1977.....no one was.... That classification was created in the 1980's*. This was probably reported this way as another attempt of a put-down to North Texas. SMU constantly does this type of thing in the DMN..... * The re-classification of I-AA put a lot of schools out of football during the 1980's... In Texas, Lamar and UT-Arlinton later dropped football and West Texas State (West-Texas A&M now) down-sized their program... The same happened to colleges in other states as well.
  24. -- If we get a "bit lucky" and defeat OU then I'll bet they will not be so eager to dump us off the schedule. We can always dream...crazier things have happened.
  25. ---"What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach [ COOL HAND LUKE ] ---Of course then there is the other one... listed in my signature. I love "Animal House" ... I think I knew a lot of most of those guys while at NT (lived at College Inn) even Blutarski.. I also Love the black night-club scene. My wife while young and very stupid (and before I knew her) even had to hide under a table after a fight broke in a black nightclub after Aretha Franklin failed to show up as she was supposed to do... She said they practically crawled out the door to leave. The future wife was was young and very stupid to be there with her roomies. There were no other "honkies" in the place.... LOL. --Considering all the stupid things college kids do it is a miracle anyone reaches age 25 alive with all their body parts.
