  1. ---I was considering it --until he made this dumb decision and caved in to the extreme right*... now I really don't know. Sounds like he really won't stand up for what he really believes. I am not anti-GOP, but I am anti Bush because of some of the crazy decisions he has made including claiming he is conservative and then he doubles the national debt which drives up prices including gasoline.. If you doubt me.... check out how much the international rate of exchange of the dollar vs. other currencies has dropped in eight years**. Blame the increased debt and the changes in China for at lot of increased prices.. I also live in Midland and have heard a lot of nutty stories about GWB from people who know him. He lived about 1/2 mile from me, don't really know him but have seen him around several places. . . * The Christian right as much as anybody wanted to invade Iraq as a Crusade again Moslem countries (Falwell and P.Robertson et.al.) ... Bush, unfortunateley, even used that term a couple of times. It sure wasn't about 9-11, Bush admits that. ** The last time I was in London (late 90's) it took $1.50 to buy a British pound, now it takes over $2.00. Against many other currencies (includes the Euro) the dollar has deteriorated worse. --- That has really driven prices up of things that are imported or trade internationally.
  2. ---The one thing that now bothers me about McCain is his caving in the the extreme right and selecting Palin. Other than that there are several things about him that I like. --no wasteful earmarks for example--- ---To me those is think Palin is a great pick probably think that a major 4-year university should consider selecting a fine Christian successful "junior high coach" to be their next head football coach. That makes more sense to me since winning football games is less important then "running" a country.. ---Experience and knowledge do matter. Electing a president is not a popularity contest or beauty pageant... It is far more important.... it is no game. ---When selecting a surgeon---Would you rather have a fine Christian incompetent one --or-- an excellent Surgeon that doesn't go around thumping his Bible. You get to chose. ----------- ---Don't even think that I am anti-Christian... I even attend Church regularly. I just want competent people in office.
  3. --Some films should not be remade... the original is too good and the times have changed greatly and there is no point to modernizing it (if that is what was attempted) .
  4. . --Don't insult me then... which is what you did, as do most SMU people regularly ... Most don't even realize it because they are so into themselves and look down on others. I don't accept apologies unless they are accidents... that was no accident... you knew exactly what you were doing... insulting me. That is exactly why SMU is so "unpopular"..... in case you don't know.
  5. ----I live 350+ miles from Denton and close to Lubbock.. My wife is Tech grad and I even was a graduate teaching assistant there one year . ----Don't mouth off until you understand the situation.... and beside that it has been several years since I have not attended at least one NT game and usually 2-3 . [ two of my kids are NT grads as am I, they live in Dallas] How many miles do you drive. ??????? I will bet even one of my round trips is more miles that you drive in all of yours combined. (Close to 800, usually more considering I go to their homes.) --Trust me I enjoyed the heck out of the Tech game and watching SMU getting pummeled... Had I gone to LSU game, It would have been about 2000 miles round trip. How many of those have you made????? Re: SMU fans --there may have been a 50 (maybe) in the section most sat... They had nothing to cheer about until the final minute (they scored finally) so it was difficult to tell. (50 in 55,000 are sort of hard to hear even if they cheered more than once..!!) You sound like a typical smu xxxx. Obviously you don't (can't) think much.... A North Texas grad can actually get jobs out of Dallas unlike SMU grads who depend on their SMU buddies in the neighborhood. This may a diificult concept for you... but some of us have gone to more than one university and actually have multiple degrees.
  6. ---- I get tired of the campaign ads that make statements that are not even close to the truth about what their opponents believe or support. The most offensive (to me) are the ones that show their opponent in some goofy photograph (ever freeze framed your TV and looked at people, can be strange) and the ones that have someone with a desperate almost weeping voice. To me that shows that they know that they can't win on honest issues and their own merit but only by trashing their opponent.. ---- I just want politicians that are honest and will make good decisions that is best for the public as a whole and not just their financial supporters (which sure hasn't been happening in the state or US government lately).
  7. Typical... I went to the TxTech/Smut game??.. The highpoint of the game for Smu was the opening coin flip... they won.. After receiving the kick off it was downhill, SMUpassed on the first play which was intercepted and tech scored 2-3 plays later. Oher highlight.. Graham Harrell set the all time Tech passing TD record against SMU. SMU threw five interceptions and that was a record (public address) for Tech or either that it was arecord for a single Tech player. I love records that paint SMU in a bad light. Oh yeah SMU allowed 693 total yards which was 270 more than North Texas allowed against the defending National Champion, LSU The final score was 43-7 and the game ended with Tech less than one yard from the end-zone and 50 points. I loved the game. ______________________________________ I am also betting that the DMN failed to mentions that SMU is now allowing 541 yds per game, only two teams are doing worse... NMSU and UAB. but just barely ....27 more yards would put them in last place. Bet the DMN failed to mentioned these highlights of SMU. .
  8. . ---Boise State was not giving up 45-50 points per game for the last FOURTEEN GAMES and had won many games and had not lost to two teams the previous year whose only win was Boise State.. Two teams on our 2007 schedule (SMU, FIU) won ONE game.......us.... we made their season... Appl. State was the defending A-II champ, not a team that seems to get worse every year. As a parent I would never accept the results and reward a child that constantly came home with failing grades. ----There is a big difference. Show some improvement. As I tell my college students... show you care and then I will show I care and will support and help you. Coaching is tough..... but the heads are getting great salaries compared to most people... provide some results to match the salary. I also have no pity for Vince Young who is upset that someone booed him ... I would gladly trade salaries with him.... toughen up and get busy.... or leave. . As Truman said.... "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". I don't think we should forfeit or just give up to anyone..... but work hard and make the score respectable or don't schedule them. Surely we can do better than average 45-50 points on defense for 14 games.... remember we play teams in the SunBelt... not the SEC or Big XII. To repeat an unfortunate quote.... "You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still as pig". You can claim we are getting better but the results don't show that. If we lose, we lose.... but for gosh sakes do we have to the worse team in the NCAA in defense??... we are or at least the stats indicate that. I'm not some crazy alum that thinks we should be #1..... I just don't want to be the worst of 118 teams or close to it.... I just can't accept that much failure.... maybe some here can...!! Fool me once shame on you... fool me FOURTEEN times... shame on me. .
  9. --Not likely a problem but they may call off the dogs, play reserves, run simple plays, and make the score somewhat reasonable.
  10. . --You are right.....BUT...... it is tough to be positive when were "dead last" last year in the NCAA in points allowed ( 45.1 per game ) and this year so far we are allowing 50.5 per game and are playing an even tougher team this week. ---I don't how to "spin" that into a positive.....perhaps you know. ---I love success, I can accept losing somewhat... but getting constantly stomped is another deal.... Only once prior to last year had we given up 400+ points during a season and that was our first year back in division I... last year we gave up 541. and this year is not looking better. The only thing to be positve about (that I see) is we need to improve in that area.
  11. . --Nice observation.... so that makes us #9 not #8 of the Botton-Eleven. Hall-la lu--ya.. We are not as bad first thought.
  12. --- I expect LSU to be im-Palin us all afternoon. Then we will say Biden to them after collecting our check. It will be Gore-y. They will likely be confused after that thinking they play O'Bama next when really they play Au-burn. Likely they should be taken out in the Bushes and Cained as for what they will have done to us. OH well, maybe we can our team a'Clinton on all eight cylinders next week as all good Fords should do. If not we should should say Nixon the season and try again next year as all Truman do....If we are really lucky maybe some space aliens will land at Fouts before then and we will have Reagans to use on them and make their best players disappear. My Screaming Ealgle 2008 campaign slogan: "40 or less.!!" .... Which week will our defense hold our opponent to less than 40 points.?????? .... Is it possible..??? I am going to watch in person "my second favorite team" this week-end... aka "The team that plays SMU" , which is .....TxTech . .
  13. That proves the statement that every bad thing has some good points and every good thing has some bad points......LOL.
  14. ---Cut them some slack.... It was the first game they have done and the last of this year. ESPN had to have a second crew because of two Monday Night Football games. It doesn't happen again. Doing play by play and doing a "talk" show are totally different things.
  15. HUH--- I was trashed by the moderators for just saying "Germany during the 30's". and here is the dictator's name that I was refering to in in the title of a thread..... and that is permitted ??????????????? Crazy...
  16. ---I may be wrong but I think some of those involved refered to themselves that way... I have missed a lot of newcasts lately but it seems they did not go out of their way to cover these idiots. Usually the networks overdo these type of stories. Glad to see that no one here is trying to blame the opposition party either because they have had nothing to do with this action, just as was the case in 1968 when all hell broke loose at the Chicago convention at the other parties convention. In that case it was much worse and also involved a war which was very unpopular and much larger..
  17. Rodeo team !!--- that is an idea. If we could sign their rodeo team (especially those that Steer wrestle) maybe we could tackle someone before they reach the end-zone. ---I am beginning to wonder if our defense can't stop folks that play a rather normal (non Spread) offense because they just never see it in practice. I have noticed TexTech has a similiar problem of allowing a lot of points and they play a similiar offense... who knows...?? I am tired of seeing 40+ on the opponent's side of the scoreboard. At least in TxTech's case their offense is outscoring their opponent....usually. . ---SMU just went to that style of offensive play and what happens.... their defense gives up 56 points to Rice... (not a super power). Inquiring minds want to know....
  18. .It was a quote from Bill Clinton....refering to criticism of Obama by McCain. LOL. I don't this he was refering to a person who a mayor of a very small town two years ago that knows no international leaders (which is needed now, but wasn't in Lincoln's time). Some older comparisons don't make any sense in today's world. Part of the weaknesses of Carter was he knew few people in Washington and was not all that effective.... and he was light-years ahead of her.
  19. ---This is not about qualifications....... it is about wooing the disgruntled Hillery voters and.... the ultra-Christian right. Of course I would never say McCain is flip-flopping on his stance .... about the the issues the Ultra-right want. ...(as some are prone to say about candidates) A month ago they hated him, -- now his stance has changed a lot --- and they support him.. ---He was trashing Obama as having very little experience but two years ago Obama was a U.S. Senator and had been a state Senator before that.....But McCain changes his stance ( not flip-flops, only Democrats do that ) and picks a VP that two years ago was a mayor of a town of less 7000. (about the size of Lamesa, Tx.) making sure the garbage was collected properly, and that was her highest governmental position. ---No doubt this action exibits good judgment and a consistant (not flip-flopping) stance.
  20. ---Personally I alway thought the primary purpose of the U.S.Government was to "provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare' of its citizens..... If you think she is the most qualified to do that----by all means votes for her. ---I just don't think 1, anti-gay, 2. anti-abortion, and 3. the the right to own and carry any gun you want (includes. machine guns, bazookas** etc. which some would love to have) are the most important issues to elect a President and the VP. Think goodness the guy that once lived across the street from me (occsionally drunk) couldn't get a machine pistol or machine gun, I thought his shooting at the moon with a revolver was bad enough..!!! No-- I don't live in a bad part of town.. Some fortune 500 people live close to me (1/2 mile north ) and the Bush once lived 1/2 mile south of me. Of course I could be wrong about what is important .......plus .......... She may be a whiz dealing with international problems should she unfortunately become President ..........as did Truman, L.B.Johnson, and G.Ford........ ** prohibiting them is gun control.
  21. ---That was an awful call in my opinion. (I saw it) it wasn't taunting, was extremely short, and just a sudden reaction to the sack he made. I don't like these hot-doggers but that one was far from that. They have to allow "some" emotion and short reactions to the action.
  22. . --Unfortunately some people actually believe them..... just as the rumors that came out in 2000 that McCain had a black daughter which hurt him in some key primaries ... McCain dropped out the next week. --The truth .... he does have an adopted daughter from Bangladesh. Not was implied in the crazy emails. Two things that matter in this world ----- the truth and what people think is true.... because of that we are in Iraq.
  23. . --A whole lot of times.. Sometimes on TV, sometimes in emails, and even in the newspaper. I am not just making this stuff up ... like some are. Read this... a good sourse, Washington Post and Brian Williams of NBC. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2...email_lies.html ____________________ LAS VEGAS -- Before turning to questions about the economy, NBC anchor Brian Williams asked Illinois Sen. Barack Obama about several virally circulating e-mails that falsely asserted that Obama is secretly a Muslim, took the oath of office on a Koran instead of a Bible, and refuses to say the pledge of allegiance. Obama laughed and said, "First of all, let's make clear what the facts are." Obama reiterated that he is a Christian and was sworn in with his hand on a Bible. He pointed out that he not only says the pledge, but sometimes leads the pledge on the floor of the Senate. But in the Internet era, he said, "there are going to be lies. One e-mail that circulated in New Hampshire and elsewhere declares that he not only refuses to recite the pledge of allegiance, but he "turns his back to the flag and slouches." The same one says Muslims intend to destroy the United States and "what better way to start than at the highest level -- through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!"
  24. . Will UT be favored against the Miners next week...???? LOL
