  1. The Fewest points allowed in the NFC ---------Philly -------- they are in the NFC finals. (lowest in yards allowedin NFC) The Lowest points allowed in the AFC ---------Steelers ----they in the AFC Finals (lowest in yards allowed in AFC) 3rd Lowest points allowed in AFC ----------- Baltimore which just defeated the 2ed lowest in AFC (Titans) to get get there. (Balt was 2ed in yards allowed) I see a pattern here… defense wins.. oh yeah... the first three teams in offensive yards.... New Orleans, Denver and Houston... none made the playoffs. The Cardinals were next but won with great defense in their two playoff games. There is a message here somewhere... Hard to evaluate college teams this same way because some play some very weak teams and some don't. The NFL teams all play a similiar schedule. . ________________ The remaining NFL team in the Arizona…. they are the TxTech of the NFL… they can score a million points with Warner and Fitzgerald and Boldin.. But can lose on a bad day by the QB also to teams that play good defense.. One addition note on Arizona after they defeated Carolina .…. drumroll….. defense…… They won with a lot of turnovers (interceptions) … ie. back to defense again on a very offensive minded team. Aggies should not have fired Slocum (remember the Wrecking Crew defense) and North Texas doesn’t have a clue now..... we gave up 50 points a game. __________ Want to win???? 1. Play good defense -- not happening 2. Eliminate stupid penalites (big problem with DD teams) 3. Minimize turnovers 4. Pay attention to special teams -- not happening Wild offenses are exciting but without a good defense, and decent special teams .. even if the stupidity (penalities asnd turnovers] is stopped... we have no chance.... and will see a lot more 50+ point games by our opponents.... Not as DD fan but we were not seeing those type of scores even with all the stupid penalities and boring offense that existed then.... ---Losing Vizza is not the big problem... but why he left is.......... . This isn't a disgruntled player not getting playing time or not getting respect from fans.. .
  2. $ 492,798 ...Dishes .... bought by the Bushes for the White House..... as they are leaving. Part two: What happened to the other ones (the ones they have been using) .. Bushes taking them back to Dallas with them?? Compares a lot to the Marie Antonette comment.. "Let them eat cake". They really don't get it..... and what the financial condition of the country is.
  3. ---It is so obvious that they really do need a bail-out. After all the actors and actresses are so poor they can't afford clothing even when being filmed..
  4. -- If that is the case (defense is dead) then North Texas is an outstanding trend setter...
  5. Can we get a participation trophy??? ..no ..we did not get to participate (in a bowl) ...LOL
  6. ---There needs to be a playoff system. Maybe eight teams in the beginning with at minimum of six confeneces involved and no more than two for any conference. [ if you can't finish in top two of your confernce, you don't need to be included ] First round could be before Christmas also after finals, one after Christmas, and the final one after New Years. If this works well then maybe expand to 16 teams. This adds one game to 4 teams and 2 to the finalists. That is better than practicing all December for a game a month after their last game..just ask the coaches and players... they want to end it all. . ---The bowl system is a mess now... 64 teams...crazy...and some of them occur SIX weeks after their final regular season game. (Ohio State). ---Bowls games could still exist..just not include playoff teams. very few of the bowls now have any effect on the top 5-10 teams anyway.. they are just a reward for a good season (as they all once were) and gives fans somewhere to go around New Years. Congratulations to the Utes.... likely they would have lost a game or two in the Big XII or SEC but you never know... we need a playoff system.
  7. --Married one.. not exactly annoying. TxTech is 100 north of me (Midland). Lots of locals are TxTech grads.. I don't share your assessment of them in fact I had dinner tonight with a several and an Aggie. All places in Texas have a few knot-heads and lots of decent folks.... which includes us. I wish we could win as often....
  8. -- I am a TEXAN... I support Texas teams... even they happen to be doing better than we are. (one maybe exception, against Sun-Belt team) I don't notice the US Army hoping US Navy ships would be sunk by Japan or Germany during WWII. --Tech does nothing to harm us... sounds like jealiousy
  9. ---People should be hired because of ability or need.. PERIOD... hiring or not hiring someone because of race is racism ... I don't which race or even which gender you are. We have for the most part moved way beyond that and should just hire the best available with the skills needed. ----I do understand having a variety of groups on staff for recruiting purposes and public relations. In some businesses I even understand hiring a Hispanic simply because you need a Spanish speaking person on staff....even if they happen to be less capable otherwise....they have a skill you need, but in general hire the most capable person and ignore ethic group... America and you will be better off. Newsflash: not all racists are Anglo... other groups have them as well. Also gender discrimination was once as bad or worse than race discrimination. example: Sandra Day O'Conner (ex-Supreme Court Justice) could not get a job after finishing law school despite being #2 in her class. Should we just hire a coach that is a woman because there are none coaching now........ really stupid. Affirmative action is rarely needed now..... for the most part its time has passed. --- I've noticed that affirmative action doesn't apply to players... especially NBA... one group seems to be over-represented. ( ability seems to be the issue not ethic group) If no quota there or with that group then not other places either with other groups.
  10. --I honestly believe that Parcell left Dallas because Jerry signed TO (aka "the Player") and refused to part with him. Parcell had enough class to not air this out publicly.
  11. 1. --Get rid of Pac-man. he hasn't done any good for the boys and is a image embarrassment. How many lost fumbles did he produce this week. 2. ---Detroit did one good thing this year --- no wins but traded Roy Williams to Dallas for several draft choices--- he was worthless... maybe even worth less than that. They got Dallas's first round and more... Dallas could have gotten better in the sixth round, he can't catch and hasn't a clue how to run routes. He was a great HS and good college player (against lesser talent) but he is now in over his head in the NFL. 3. ---Parcell likely gave Jerry a choice... TO (aka "the player" ) goes or I go....... Jerry kept TO... and Miami gets Parcell and improves to 11 winsand makes the playoffs with Parcell and Dallas slumps and out of the playoffs with superior talent. TO is also an image embarrassment (his mouth and the "Star incident")..... He does make some difficult catches but misses a lot of easy ones. 4. ---Dallas now has the same problem as DD had ... way too many stupid penalties and also too many turn-overs. That will lose any game that is reasonably close otherwise. Need to kick some rears and get this under control. _____ ---Do you really think any of those events would have happened if Tom Landry or Jimmy Johnson was still there and had a say in things?? ---It got so bad my wife went to the kitchen and reversed the large magnetic Cowboy symbol on the fridge door... It shows the black side now and could be any team. The only positive item is that they allowed less in that ONE GAME than what North Texas's team AVERAGED in 12 games. (I am depressed)...LOL
  12. Any question that has an answer, "I do." is a sign of trouble ahead.... LOL.
  13. It is true now... they don't need any help... just win.. They are one of the worse under-achievers ever.
  14. ---The current administration's policy of removing federal regulations on business and Wall Steet has really worked out well hasn't it. ---Personally I don't trust those guys (financial and business execs.) when money is involved and they personally can get more of it... especially at the cost of the investors and tax-payers. I think you listen to Rush too much or at least believe all the BS those type of guys put out. What is truth is and what they claim it is, is not the same at all.
  15. --I believe in: "Show me, don't tell me.".
  16. --This is rather disgusting. Some here are showing the maturity of junior high kids who just learned a a few bad words and think they have to use them to prove they are now an adult. That includes similiar terms... Sounds like a immature junior high kid trying to get away with something. ---I am far from a prude, but the "bed and bath" terms need to be left off.. We need to show some class and maturity in our posts and act like we actually went to college and not just completed junior high. ...
  17. ---One thing I have learned.... humor is often hard to detect in print.... it is a lot easier to tell in person... (Sarcasm especially)
  18. Talk about twisting something into a political statement.... The Math/Science department I am a member of, has a 14 member fantasy football league and we do keep up with sports and talk sports. No doubt a few profs are a bit odd (any profession has a few strange folks) but most profs are just normal people with the usual interests. .. Just be honest about educators......ok
  19. Skipped this one. For an income between $7550 and $30,650...... you get to pay only 15%....... the same as Warren Buffett, Ross Perot, and friends on their long term (1 year? ) capital gains (profit) on stock and real property, etc. even if the profit is millions.
  20. PLEASE READ----- The long term capitol gains tax is currently 15%.... even if you earn $100,000,000 .......every year. ---For we non-multi-millionaires, we pay 25% tax on what we earn in salary for the amount between $30,650 and $74,200.... and if we are fortunate to earn more than that it jumps to 28% up $154,800. The worst bracket is 35% on earned income (salary for example) but you have to exceed $336,550 for that to kick in. ---The whole point is the the multi-millionaires pay taxes at a rate much lower that most of the poor working stiffs who go to work every day. When you hear about all these wonderful tax cuts we have been given... remember that was the largest part of the tax cut they brag about. ---Personally I agree with the low long-term capitol gains tax when the amount is rather reasonablel (example money coming from our retirements accounts) but not the these Warren Buffit type people who make 10's or 100's of millions every year. Warren Buffet actually opposed these cuts... he wanted cuts to the middle class...he cited his secretaries and others who needed tax relief, not him. ---For those who have swallowed the beliefs about all these cuts you have received.... perhaps you should check out your tax tables. You might be surprised. The brackets mentioned are on 2006 table.... I don't have the 2007 one, 2008 one doesn't yet exist, but it is very similar, perhaps a very few dollars more... This is not made up or BS put out by some radio/TV/political guy.......look it up. ________________ On the state level, sales taxes, gasoline taxes, alcohol taxes, and tobacco taxes, have not been cut.... They claim they have reduced State taxes...ok... name one that you pay.....that has been reduced.
  21. --That means we now #1 in two things... 1. points allowed 2. consecutive losses.
  22. --In Washington.... maybe BS counts as one letter..... J..O.. BS.. ................therefore 3-letters. lol
  23. --Had not noticed the spelling errors...can't locate it again but it was some Homeowners Association site quoting the Houston Chronicle. Try this... an insurance company in Plano... no stats just a general statement that we have the worse rates in the nation. The bill Perry signed was very ineffective... Why would an insurance company lie about the high rates.?? They wouldn't.. Since 2000 there has been home insurance reform that has affected the residents of Plano and all of Texas. In 2003 Gov. Perry signed a Comprehensive Homeowner Insurance Reforms Legislation. This legislation is to stabilize the auto and home insurance market and the insurance industry of fraudulent practices and ensure Texans have access to fair rates offered in a competitive market. Despite this legislation, five years later, Texans still pay the highest home insurance rates in the country. There is hope, over the last three years strides have been made in the home insurance market in Texas .Statewide, homeowners in nine of the top ten insurance companies have seen rates cut by more than 15 percent, or about a billion dollars in three years. What has lead to this turn around? Homeowners insurance reforms and strong action by state regulators. Texas residents are still paying the highest rates but they are lower than when the legislation was started in 2003 http://www.homeinsuranceplanotexas.com/ ______________________- Below is an interesting collection of articles from various Texas sourses. It is from Texas Monthly site but articles are from "all over". Some even contain comments from those defending the high rates. In any case .... they confirm how high they are. http://www.texasmonthly.com/textalk/article?sid=5200 Included in this article is this quote.... again no 2006, 2007 stats available...which were also omitted in my original post.. A spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry defended the 2003 reforms and noted that the study doesn't include 2006 and 2007 figures.
  24. A quote from a website that quotes the Houston Chronicle and the Texas Dept. of Insurance..... ____________________________- Did you know that according to the Texas Department of Insurance and HoustonChronicle.com, providers only paid out 57% of the insurance premium they brought in 2005? In 2004, they only paid 27.8%? Well it’s true. Even with all the hurricanes and tornados and hail storms and killer mold. Even with all this, they only paid out an average of .42 cents on the dollar over the last two years _______________________________ You be the judge if the high rates are necessary -- did not find a site with stats of later years... just general statements about how bad they are.
